In fantasy literature and role-playing games, mages are often classified into different schools or disciplines of magic. These schools represent different types of magical abilities and focus on specific areas of study, such as elemental magic, illusion, necromancy, or divination. Each school has its own set of spells and techniques, allowing mages to specialize in a particular branch of magic or become versatile practitioners with a broad range of abilities.

*Maddy* When I was a child, my father came home from one of his mysterious merchant trips with a large, fabric bound book. It was large enough to cover my entire lap, and so heavy I couldn’t lift it on my own. The cover was embroidered with whirls and swirls of silver and gold thread, the outer edges detailed with delicate symbols and lettering none of us could read. “It’s very old, Starling,” he’d said to me, laying the book carefully in my lap as I trembled with childlike excitement. “You must be extremely careful. You never know what kind of magic may be inside, and what gods we’ll upset if any pages are torn.”

It was hand written. She went on, flipping the book and stopping to read through some parts of it. It was a book about spells and she found herself laughing at the silliness of the thought that magic was still in existence. Some of the spells in the book made Matilda to shake her head and conclude that the book had been written during the time that witches existed. Some of the recipes in the book had ingredients like a two day old crow's blood, the crushed bark of a cider tree, four leaved clovers, mint leaves that had bloomed in the summer and many other bizarre ingredients.

The elders shook their heads in disbelief because they have hope never to have anything to do with the forest that has existed only in their folklores till now. Warriors have to be summoned immediately from the 11 clans in Afugiri, the bravest and then they’ll be coached and sent to fetch these magic beans. When the Elders were done, the Oracle came and fortified them with spiritual powers and gave them some instructions and elements to us when confronted with certain kinds of creatures, mermaids, and evil spirits and warned them on the ‘Dos and Don’ts’ of certain lands they’ll be crossing on their way to the forbidden forest.

I’d wait until I had a chance to ask them. We walked down a long entryway with white and black marble tile on the floor and plenty of golden framed paintings on either side of us, each depicting a different scene from the history of mages and shifters, I supposed. The few that I recognized were only familiar to me because I used to read a lot of fairy tales. When I saw one of a woman wearing a red cloak, standing in the forest with a wolf at her side, I raised an eyebrow. “Ah, yes! A Nightingale,” Maggie said, stopping and folding her hands in front of her. “Isn’t it lovely?”

But Mayari don't believe in stuff like magic, unicorns, or fairytales, she only focus herself on things that she saw through her own life that is blood and money so she thought she was bluffing. "Drop the act, it's nonsense." Mayari commented. "Just tell me where I am exactly and I'll be on my way." "I'm not joking, it is really magic," She insisted, "and you can't leave yet, I still need to speak to you." "I have no time for this." Mayari was about to walk out, but the door suddenly disappeared infront of her, leaving only thick hard wall. "Our conversation is still not finish." She told, "Please have a seat."

"They are not as fun to read but as I have had dealings with a witch coven recently I figured it would be best to research them. For fun though, I like to read fantasy books so that I can get lost in a new world." He brings me to the fantasy section and I just stare at all of the amazing pictures on the front of these books. Forgetting that I am looking to read the books I pick one out judging by the picture alone. It shows a guy riding on the back of a golden dragon while another dragon breathes fire at him. "That is actually the second book in the series. Let me get you the first book and then we can come back for the second once you are done reading it." He helps.

“I would sense the magic if it were so.” I dismounted and unsaddled Coryfe as the mage sat on one of the branches of the fallen tree and drew from a bag he wore under his cloak, a small book, bound in leather, with curls of metal protecting the corners and clasping the covers shut. “We need a fire,” he said to me, his fingers stroking the cover reverently. There was no writing on the cover or binding, but I could see something had been embossed into the leather. Perhaps the embossing was the shadow of writing that had once been picked out with ink, but which time had faded or flaked away.
