I placed both hands over it and whispered a spell—one I hadn’t practiced, one I barely remembered from the book. “Elysis navarre… restorium… reveth.” A hum vibrated through the floorboards. The orb cracked with a thin line of light, then another. Suddenly— BOOM. Magic burst upward like fireworks, thin ribbons of power spiraling through the room and out the window, disappearing into the sky in streams of red, blue, silver, black. I shielded my eyes as the orb shuddered, relieved of its load. Those powers would return to their rightful owners.

He produced an item in his hand and the reflection of the sun into the crystal shone brightly. Aerin gasped behind me, while I stood frozen in my place. Selmor possessed an ancient artifact, a magic orb. This one had red smoke in his insides, providing us with the information that it was a Blood orb. He needed someone’s fresh sacrifice to unleash the spell onto the area. We held our breaths as I tried to explain the urgency of the situation to Jake, through our bond.

I need to gather all my senses so I can retrieve the Orbis. Since they can't go anywhere near the lake, it has to be done by me. An Orbis is round and glossy, like a pearl, only it is bigger than a pearl. And an Orbis can only be found in a Mystical Lake. One thing that makes the Orbis special is that it can take a person to any place or a different realm. All you need to do is step on the Orbis and think about the place you wished to be.

On the next was a small figurine of a girl, her arms forming an ‘o’ above her head as she was forever frozen in a pirouette. On another was an orb the size of a softball, smaller than the one at castle mist. The inside of this orb was smoky, white tendrils twisting and curling within the dark surface of the glass. The magic that seemed to radiate from it in near-undetectable waves was different from the others. Shapes churned within the smoke, forming rapidly before breaking apart. There was a tug in my gut, the urge to see what those shapes were had me leaning in. “Rachel, do not touch the orb.”

"He kept showing up when I felt worst. Said weird things about my energy." A beat of silence. Then Derek exhaled, shaking his head. "Energy draining is rare. Some call it ‘witch sickness.’ There’s no real cure, just… prevention." He abruptly changed the subject, pulling a book from the shelf. "This spell sharpens memory. Temporary, but useful before exams." As he leaned in to point out a passage, his shoulder brushed hers—and he froze. "Your magic," he murmured. "It feels… different." Rita forced a laugh. "Probably Pru’s amulet." She tapped the charm at her throat—a decoy.

It clicked open, just as she knew it would. What she saw next took her by surprise to such a degree that she felt let down by her own third eye. The Heart of Magic stood encased in a glass protectorate in the middle of the room, but it was difficult to see it as, in front of the treasure, a large form rose from the ground to block her view. A black and red dragon--in chains.

We were two stars twinkling in the darkness, leaving a trail of light among the other stars. Gabriel and I embraced tightly as we apologized for the heated argument earlier. In between our intense kisses and apologies, a strange vibration suddenly rippled through the ground beneath our feet. The sun was hastily setting, carrying its light behind dark clouds. In the midst of our favourable moment, a mysterious shadow emerged from a mysterious portal. “Oracle Alice, why are you here?” Gabriel asked the middle-aged woman dressed in white. Oracle Alice was one elder of the Blood Pack. The white-haired old woman possessed extraordinary magic power. She could see the future and the past.

"The orb will glow in one of seven colors—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, or violet—each representing a different stage. Give it a try." Without hesitation, Chase channeled a thread of his true energy into the orb. Immediately, the transparent orb lit up with a dazzling white glow that was intense. "What's going on? Isn't it supposed to show a color—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, or violet? What's with the white light?" someone in the crowd asked, confused.

With a final surge of willpower, she managed to grasp the orb, the darkness receding as she held it firmly in her hands. "We need to destroy it now," Marinetta said through gritted teeth. "Aislinn, do you have any spells that can neutralize its power?" Aislinn nodded, her hands already moving through a complex series of gestures. "I have a spell that should work, but I need time to cast it. Keep the orb steady." As Aislinn chanted the incantation, the orb began to glow with an intense light, the dark energy within it struggling to break free. Marinetta held it tightly, feeling the power coursing through her, threatening to tear her apart.
