I don’t know if you should hear this. I mean, it’s not pretty. It’s downright scary as hell!”

In 1983 a Mrs Carson of New York was laid out in our coffin, presumed dead of hear disease. As mourners watched, she suddenly sat up, alive as you or I. Just remember, if you don’t want things to go bump in the night, don’t tell anyone else about them. Even now the shadows in my room play havoc with my subconscious, so I turn the light on and sleep with one eye open. Also, when my computer starts to go on the fritz just as I write a particularly spooky part of a story, I chuck it up to chance and swallow a little harder before checking to make sure that I have only one shadow. His presence alone fills me with a primal fear, as if I have stumbled upon a predator in the midst of its hunt. As he closes the distance between us, each step knowing and resolute, my body freezes in place. The fear that courses through my veins paralyzes me, making me incapable of rational thought. I can feel the tremors coursing through my limbs, my muscles betraying me in the face of this scary person.

My fingers crawling to my ears, pull the ear buds out quickly as my breathing pulls up lightly. My heart, once dancing with joy, now shuddered with fear, and my body instinctively tensed, a cold rush replacing the warmth within. The blood coursing through my veins seemed to turn icy as the air around me thickened with an unsettling tension. A disconcerting symphony echoed in the form of creepy, scary footsteps, their ominous rhythm making its way over dry, crunchy leaves.
