A shriek came out of her mouth which made Anna look behind to find Aura falling down. "Aura!" Anna panicked and screamed taking her name and jumped off without thinking of the consequence. Suddenly she felt a burning sensation on her back and soon two jet-black wings came out of her back. Each feather has the top part jet black with the hairs or fibers sticking out of the sides, while the end of the edge itself is blood red. Flipping the wings in the air she flies down and catches Aura before she falls into the river of fire.

But I knew it mattered. Everything mattered now. Every relic. Every lie. Every man. A sharp fluttering sound interrupted my thoughts. I frowned slightly and looked upward. A black bird landed against the balcony rail. Not unusual in Blackwood. But this one did not move away. Its claws gripped the iron tightly while its dark eyes remained fixed directly on me. Then I noticed the letter tied carefully to its leg. My stomach tightened immediately. Slowly, I stood. The bird remained still as I approached, almost expectant. I untied the folded paper carefully while keeping my eyes on it.

This wasn’t business. This was Belle. The tension in the room felt heavier than any deal he had ever handled. If only that message would arrive—everything would be over in an instant. Minutes stretched on in suffocating silence, broken only by the ticking clock. Then Pete’s phone vibrated. He froze. Swallowing hard, he unlocked the screen with slightly trembling fingers and read the message that had just appeared. “The sparrow will return to its nest.” Pete exhaled sharply, relief washing over him.

Her voice was particularly shrill to my ears. "They're dead! All dead! That is wonderful! I am happy when you are miserable!" My eyes turned red. I swung the knife down hard to stab her. That was when Liam rushed in. A flash of black light flew out from his sleeve. A little Black Dragon lunged at Lucia and bit her throat hard. Lucia held her hand to her throat as fresh blood spurted freely. She fell to the ground. The little Black Dragon turned back to quietly slide up my wrist. He looked up at me. "I'm here to see you, Mom."

It chirped strangely, as if it were conversing with someone in the dark. "Hmmm… a celebration for the Priestess tomorrow?" "It appears that they forgot to invite me," said a mysterious voice hiding in the tower's darkness. The bird chirped again as a pair of hands appeared in the darkness, the bird-shaped origami perched on one of its fingers, with long, shiny, and sharp black nails. "Don't worry, I'll personally convey my warm greetings to our guest," it said as it approached the window, exposing a daring smile coming from its blood-colored lips. *********************

she switched her black crayon to a yellow one. "Oh, what do we have here? Can I take a look?" Ruth said, diverting Gianna's paper to her, "Wonderful! You did this?" Gianna nodded. "So here is your beautiful mummy, I presume," she pointed out a not-so-straight stick drawing representing a woman with red hair and an ear-to-ear smile drawn in red crayon, which no doubt represented her mother's signature garnished lips. "And this is you, right?" Ruth acknowledged an almost similar version of the first drawing, except it looked small, had a black yarn-like excuse of a ponytail above her head, and no red represented ear-to-ear smile. "Yeah."

Gasps erupted around the road. “What—” “No way—” My breath came in ragged bursts as I slowly turned my head. Out of the corner of my eye I saw them. Wings. Massive wings arched behind me, their feathers shimmering in the sunlight. But they weren’t the shimmering white tones of angels. They were black. Not just dark. Black as midnight. I heard someone choke behind me. “That’s not possible,” one of the mages whispered. “She’s not—” “Those aren’t angel wings.”

He immediately screamed as I successfully caught it, ripping the fabric of the pants he was wearing. He looked at me badly, I whistled. Why, just now I retaliated and then it's like I'm the bad one? I threw another fireball at his waist again, he bounced off the wall and his back hit the wall. I can still hear his bones breaking because of that. I look forward to it again. The color of his eyes suddenly changed, from normal to black. Is that the same as Jillan's twin when she oorates? He looked up and out of it came large black birds, their beaks and claws sharp. It's also scary to look at.

When she opened her eyes, they were all black like the birds. The whole forest shook as thousands of birds of different kinds came shooting through the skies. The heavens suddenly became dark as the birds concealed the sun and the clouds behind. Danika then waved her hand above her head and pushed it down. The bird flew towards the winged Badbloods who were staring in horror. The next second, the sky was filled with shriekings and cry as the birds clawed at them. The winged Badbloods swung their swords with their eyes closed but the birds were agressive as the Reapers below. Birds and winged Badbloods fell to the ground in which the Reapers gladly finished the job. After a few minutes, there

Zevran said. She raised her hands, the flames forming a circle between them. “By my measure, you will burn no more in hunger, but in memory.” The black fire contracted into a single pulse—then exploded outward as pure white. The shockwave swept through the chamber, up the stairs, through the citadel, and across the plains. When it faded, silence reigned. The Black Moon in the sky flickered once, then began to bleed gold. Zevran sank to his knees, pulling Kaelira into his arms. Her skin still glowed faintly, her breathing ragged but steady.
