"What do you want?" I said, my voice steady even as fear crawled up my spine.
“You and your ilk have thrown things out of balance,” Mara said, mockingly. “Have you ever thought about this? Humans, wolves, alliances — it’s all so... fragile. You’ve interfered too much, and it’s time to pay the piper.”
Before I could reply, Mara put her hand up, a fizzing sphere of dark energy appearing in her palm. She threw it at me out of nowhere and I barely had time to jump out of the way. The orb detonated against a nearby tree, splintering it.
