Maria stiffened and touched her neck with her fingers. “Nothing,” she replied, turning around to conceal Vector’s handprints she wasn’t aware of.
Zarina was overwhelmed with guilt as she realized that people were getting hurt because of her. She couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down her cheeks, as she ran her hands through her hair. The man who tried to save her the night she was kidnapped ended up dead, and now Maria, who tried to help her, was hurt. Zarina’s voice cracked as she spoke.
