COLLATERAL DESIRE
AT ZORIN SEA PORT
Men moved back and forth across the deck, crates being loaded, ropes pulled tight, metal clanging against metal. The air smelled like salt, oil, and wood, and the sun was high, reflecting harshly off the water. It was supposed to be a normal day, shipment, paperwork, checking routes, nothing serious.
Ragnar stood near the railing with a guy and Mar, discussing something in low voices. Lance was a few steps away, pretending to focus on a crate he was checking, but his attention kept drifting back to Ragnar like it always did.
