The men nodded and got to work while the others shifted into wolves and darted back into the woods to find their comrades who had been wounded by the beast. Moon's call approached his cottage which was close to a hill at the other side of a narrow stream flowing down into the river at one part of the forest. He walked across the board bridge he had made over the stream to get to his own side. Although he would have easily sprinted through the stream if he was in his wolf form but he didn't really fancy getting wet when he was in his human form.

She looked like she had something to say but didn't know how to say it and Huw wouldn't say anything either. "Jenny, Huw, if you have something you wish to discuss, please feel free to do so. We are all friends here." I said, breaking the ice. "I am the queen's protector," Jenny blurted out. Emily looked at me in confusion. Huw signed as he sat upright. We take a run through a nearby meadow, swaying gently against the chilly night air, fireflies dancing around us and the moonlight guiding our way through the night. Lory’s POV Since I had already slept enough during the day, in the evening when the month came out, I was as awake as I could be. I persuaded the Jacksons to go for a walk with me to come to the woods. Despite the fact that we were so far from home, the moon was still the same as at home. The forest and its sounds were different, but the moon was the same, and thanks to that, I wasn't homesick. It was exciting to discover the nature of this continent. There were different trees, leans, flowers, the aroma of which was sweet and luscious, moist and at the same time pleasantly warm. Smoke rose in a thin line from the chimney, carrying the smell of firewood. The lake lay beyond it. The water was dark but the moon lay across it in a bright silver path. The surface moved in slow ripples like the lake was breathing. Fireflies drifted near the shore. They blinked on and off like tiny stars that had fallen to earth. The air felt different here. It was lighter and calmer. “Kayden,” I said slowly. “It’s beautiful.” He looked at me instead of the view. “It’s better now,” he said.

Luna found herself elsewhere. Not standing on grass. Not surrounded by trees. Not with the two wolves who safeguarded her existence. She was within the blood-washed memories of the Moon Goddess. The ground beneath her feet transformed into a dark, glassy surface, resembling hardened obsidian. Above her, the sky fractured with white lightning, each strike unveiling glimpses of battle—wolves tearing through enemy lines, sorcerers conjuring shadows, the first Luna Queen raising her hands as moonfire erupted from her palms.
