The Death Goddess paused, her head tilting slightly, a predatory curiosity in Layla’s dead eyes.
“A foolish move, Alpha King. A fatal flaw, indeed.”
“Then so be it,” I rasped, my gaze locked on her. “If you want to destroy me, then do it. But you will not make me fight her. You will not make me hurt the woman I love. Not now, not ever.” I took a deep, shuddering breath, waiting.
The Goddess wasted no time. Her eyes gleamed with triumphant malice.
