Reid dropped to his knees beside the corpse, fingers brushing the man’s throat. “He’s dead,” he said grimly. “F**k,” Juno breathed. “We need to inform the Alpha. Right now.” Reid’s eyes narrowed. He leaned in closer, pulling back the collar to examine the wound. “F**king bloodsuckers,” he growled. “They did this.” Juno hesitated. “Are you sure?” “Look at his neck.” Reid pointed. “Those are vampire marks. Fang marks.” But Juno’s gaze travelled lower—her brows furrowed.

"Melisam, where are you?" Melisam glanced at the man, then searched for the source of Simon's voice. Soon, Simon emerged from behind a tall bush. He hurried to catch up with Melisam. "Melisam, are you okay?" Simon panicked and worried. " Did you get hurt?" Melisam shook her head. "I'm fine." Simon turned to the boy in front of him. Unceremoniously, he pointed his sword at the young man. "Who are you?" The young man raised his hand--Simon chopped off his head as a precaution. "Marcco."

“If you’ve got something to say, Markus, say it.” “I’m saying,” he said, lowering his voice like this was some big secret, “you’re in a prime position. Don’t let personal… attachments interfere with your game.” My jaw tightened. “You mean Tyler.” Markus didn’t confirm, but his silence was loud enough. “You don’t know anything about me and Tyler,” I said flatly. “I know you’re talented,” Markus said, still wearing that infuriating calm expression. “And I know the higher your profile gets, the more people will be watching. The more they’ll dig. And not everyone will be… understanding.”

Simon lifted his sword to finish the deed, but Marcus stepped between him and Gabe, blocking the blow. Simon jumped back and held his ground, his gaze narrowed on Marcus. The room swam around him, and he blinked to gain his bearings. He must have strength. He’d come too far to lose, and now that he knew Isabelle loved him, he had to fight for their lives. With a shout, Simon attacked, making a horizontal cut through the air. Marcus blocked and footed around him, holding his opponent’s stare. Simon slashed again, but Marcus met the attack. Steel clanged loudly, and Marcus’ reactions timed perfectly with Simon’s.

She looked like she had been transported back to a painful memory. "Who are they?" Simon asked, noticing the change in Sophia's demeanor. Sophia's voice was barely above a whisper. "Mar-cus” she said. As Sophia whispered the name "Marcus," her voice cracked with emotion. Simon's expression softened, and he knew exactly what was happening. He had heard Sophia talk about Marcus before, and the pain in her voice was unmistakable. "Calm down, Sophia," Simon said gently, his words of comfort barely out of his mouth before Sophia's composure shattered. Tears streamed down her face as she struggled to contain her emotions.

His cousin, Marcus, noticed the look on his face, who instantly knew that he is totally missing Hans that moment. “You miss him?” Marcus asked him, “It’s been a week, right?” Simon sighed and his eyes darkened. He felt emptiness in him as he felt so alone and said as he stayed far from his dearest Hans. ''This is nothing, man... Don't worry about me.'' Marcus hissed and took out the phone from his hand. He then dialed some numbers, and started talking when someone from the other line picked up. “Hello? Yes, this is Marcus. Can you please book a flight for Simon Hightower? Yes, today.”

He said and Markus’s body froze in the middle of him attacking Simon and I gasped. He did what I feared. Markus’s red eyes turned white too, like Sean and David. He slowly turned around to face me, baring his teeth at me. Oh shit. “Kill her.” Simon commanded. Blood pumped in my ears as I saw Markus charging straight at me. My fist clenched. How strong was Simon’s strength that he could cause a rift between mates? Guess I had to find out.

"Markus, come over here!" Markus didn't seem at all enthusiastic, he looked down at himself, confused, when his legs took steps, as if he weren't even doing them himself. "But, but ... you said ... we are partners, I did everything you asked for ! ”His misery was pathetic, the councilor was just a caricature of himself.

Marl just looked at him coldly. “You’re a psycho” Mark snorted. “Just say it.” Mark said after observing Simon for a while. “Say what?” “Say that you tested me and I passed” he said flatly. Simon just raised his eyebrows but did not say a word. It’s true. He tested Mark and he passed. He thinks Mark is capable enough. “Very well. Continue to burn Diamond Daily.” Simon said after a few moments of silence. “An established outlet who cannot resists the temptation of money has no place in Diamond Country”
