"There isn't." Another silence, this one heavier with shared understanding. Two people who'd lost their mates, standing in a hallway discussing gardens and grief. Except one of them had ordered the other's mate killed.

My heart pounds. I whip around, searching for the shooter. My eyes land on a figure in the distance. Asher. My breath stutters. He’s standing there, gun raised, eyes locked past my shoulder. Another shot fires. “Asher!” I scream. He doesn’t stop. Doesn’t even look at me. Another bullet, flying so close I swear it grazes my sleeve. I stumble forward. “Stop! What the hell are you doing?!” He reloads his gun, his expression blank. The moment his fingers leave the trigger, I move.

Matthias reached into the small of his back and pulled out a second gun, one Oscar hadn't even noticed he was carrying. "You know what? Let’s ditch the old-fashioned way. Same outcome regardless." Matthias said. Without a second of hesitation, Matthias pulled the trigger. The gunshot cracked through the cold night air. The force of the bullet sent Oscar spinning backward. He hit the water with a heavy splash, the black tide swallowing him instantly. “Now, where’s the girl?” He straightened his coat, and walked back toward the warehouse, leaving the ghost of his brother behind for the second and final time.

I grab Tony’s gun and aim at Matteo. Standing there as naked as the day I was born, my hands are shaking as Matteo steps again, his hands raised. I don’t move, I just watch him. I move the gun and fire. The bullet whizzes past his head. He stops when I’m tackled and the gun ripped from my hands.

It revealed Matthias putting a gun at him and Shawna who was naked on the bed with her hands and mouth tied. Dillion walked into the room his eyes fixed on the weeping Shawna. Matthias immediately released a shot from his gun and it hit Dillion on his shoulder. Shawna gasped in fear. Dillion only got more angry, as Matthias made to shot him again he started walking towards him. Matthias released a shot again but Dillion dogged it and grabbed him. "I'll enjoy killing you" Dillion growled like a beast. Dillion held him tightly on his neck and the gun Matthias was holding fell off his hand. Dillion pined Matthias to the wall and pressed him hard against it.

"Multiple shooters." My heart hammered violently against my ribs. I froze in my chair, the silver pen slipping from my fingers and dropping onto the desk with a sharp clack. Those aren't fireworks, I realized, the cold reality hitting me like a slap in the face. Those are actual gunshots. Matteo didn't panic. He moved with a terrifyingly calm speed. He slammed his desk drawer open, pulling out a heavy, dark pistol of his own. He stood up, kicking his leather chair backward, and rounded the desk in two strides.

Matt comes close his gaze hard and serious his gun pointed directly at Amir "Calm down Matt, she's just some girl why create such a fuss" Amir Snickers "Some girl...just some girl" Bang! Matt shoots Amir in the shoulder. Shaking I stare at Amir who grunts in pain "She is not some girl in my fucking eyes you cunt" Matt barks out. Looking at me his face drops, he comes close to wrap his hands around me but I step away "Zuri, what's wrong princess" he says looking concerned "What's wrong!?, you just shot him and now you're asking me what's wrong" I ask truly baffled. Sighing he runs his hand through his hair

He slowly stood up– his left leg couldn't hold his weight, so he balanced on the table across from us. "I'm gonna fucking kill you both." Rory and I both laughed. Men could never accept defeat. Let alone defeat from two girls. "You're pathetic, Matteo. And, you always will be," I laughed. "You won't do anything. You can't kill me. You don't have it in you. You're weak..... and scared. So who's the real pathetic one here," Matteo grinned. He kicked off the table and dove towards me. But, before he could get too close, I pulled the trigger of the gun. The loud bam hurt my ears. Rory covered her head and groaned. I could feel the vibration of the gun in my hand.

I Alexander Ortega reject you, Lisa Andrews as my mate" I heard him say with all seriousness. His voice was firm, rough and pricing deep into my heart like a warriors blade. I could feel my heart bleed as I heard those words from my mate's mouth. I looked into his eye but they where dark and emotionless, he did not seem moved by the words he was saying and one could see how dead serious he was, my eye was in immediately filled in tears as they threatened to fall but I fought hard to make sure it didn't.

The screen lit up immediately with a paused video. I hit play and Matteo appeared. It was the same video I’d seen but this time, Raphael had managed to get me the clearest version ever. Matteo had the same jacket on, same shoes, and that same nervous glance over his shoulder. He answered a call and men stepped out of the shadows. I closed my eyes tightly as the shots rang out. I couldn’t revisit that agony. When I opened my eyes, Matteo had collapsed beside a cart of fruit. Blood bloomed fast beneath him, leaking into the pavement like ink in water. People around screamed. Some ran. The shooters didn’t even pause; they snatched his phone and vanished.
