Captured by Satan

Captured by Satan

I quipped, my gaze fixed ahead. A burrito appeared in front of my face. "The King is worried that the mermaids will get to you." Wruy replied whilst wiggling the stuffed burrito left and right in front of me. "What's the worst the mermaids can do?" I retorted, finally looking to the side at Wruy. "Eat you," Wruy said with a serious tone, "the mermaids aren't the only creatures that roam the ocean, although they are the most dangerous. By now, when darkness has descended upon us, they will come out and hunt." Wruy said with his eyes on the dark clouds above us. "What other creatures?" I asked out of curiosity. I hadn't seen any.

Creatures of THE Night

Creatures of THE Night

"With pleasure, sir!" The Popobawa made a sign of inferni in the air, and I felt the magic loop around my limbs like Marinette strings forcing me to dance, Erika's limp body following. The Popobawa opened his limpet-like mouth, our pain filling him like a five-course meal at a Three Michelin Star restaurant. The cryptid was swollen with our anguish, once angular insectile body, now bloated like a tick's. His extra legs struggled to support his newfound bulk, as he danced about contorting us this way and that.

Alpha Dragon

Alpha Dragon

Acasia I was away from Bastian and in the presence of another woman. It was difficult not to jump up and down with excitement but I acted reserved so I wouldn't scare Nikka away. Brunya had spoken aloud, and Bastian told me they could so I knew earth humans spoke. Another female named Mandy joined us. She was as excited to meet me as I was to meet her. She explained that she was a wolf and human mix and that Nikka was mountain lion and human. Since I now knew dragons shifted, I had no trouble accepting what she told me. I had so many questions about their realm, and Mandy patiently answered for about three minutes.

The Twelve Scions

The Twelve Scions

The entire place was quaking and blood poured again from the fountain in a raging stream. The glass floor broke and a gigantic creature black as charcoal emerged from the blood pit. Len and Tirana ran off from the splashing boiling red and they watched in horror as the creature reveal itself. It was an enormous whale, completely black and featureless other than dripping red, hovering thirty feet in the air by unknown means. The human half of the mermaid was on top of it, exactly where its blowhole was supposed to be. "I got everything under control! We shouldn't fight her!"

"Hang on, Alicia I'm coming," he says in a low voice. The heavy metal rod cranks on the ground. Alicia looks up to see the cart's driver holding a black iron spear in his hand. Two men stand beside him. Their helmets up to the nose are revealing their teeth celebrating with evil smiles.

Maybe she was on an acid mushroom trip, or went down the rabbithole with Alice. Nick led Madchen out the backdoor of the house, to a walkway that led to the ocean. She let out a gasp as she observed the view. The water was completely calm, and a beautiful turquoise color. It was around three feet deep, she surmised, and clear to the bottom. Various fish could be seen swimming around them, including a few small sharks and vibrant green and blue parrotfish. Madchen was in awe, she had never seen such a beautiful sight, and her eyes lit up with wonder.

I love this book! The story is very captivating! My only complaint is that some chapters are repeated and some excerpts of chapters are repeated, causing you to pay more than what is worth. But that isn't on the author and should be fixed by Good Novel.

I gotta give the author mad props. I mean I’m flying through this book like mad. I know the story is ongoing but come on board. So find a comfortable spot and your favorite drink and get lost in this. Oh don’t forget your blanket my house is cold. They have the air WAY TO LOW

The Mate They Threw Away

The Mate They Threw Away

I could already tell the was regretting tagging along with us. “There are so many worlds out there,” Marucs began. “Worlds that are flourishing, worlds that are thriving, and the ones that are dying.” I glanced at Elvira who had on a stoic face. If what Marcus said had affected her. she did not show it. I peered back at the projector. It showed an image of earth being surrounded by other replicas of earth but with slight and subtle differences. Marcus flicked to the next image and I saw different creatures. Men and women with tails of fishes. Under the images was a word scribbled: The Merpeople. I saw men with pointed ears, long noses, sharp teeth with scaly wings flaring from their backs. U

Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor

Our Little Secret: In Love With My Professor

“Spirits caught between deaths. Some gentle. Most not. They live in the cracks of grief. They rot in places soaked in tragedy.” I saw a girl in a hospital gown, her face blank, floating through a dark hallway that never ended. “Giants,” Bibi said. “Buried beneath your mountains. Slumbering beneath ice. Waiting for war.” I saw a hand, huge, ancient, emerge from a snow-covered cliffside, fingers curling with life. “Merfolk,” she continued. “Not your storybook princesses. Not fish-tailed angels. But creatures of tide and hunger. Their songs aren’t lullabies, they are traps. They drag ships under, for fun. For vengeance. For a different kind of delicacy.”

Leesa's Advent

“Did you come through a portal?” Selene nods. “Yes, we did. Alas, there do not seem…to be any of our kind…in this world.” “No, there certainly aren’t,” I say. “Not that we know of, anyhow.” “We didn’t even know your world had water,” Radar says. “None of the other creatures from There will go near the water.” The three mermaids exchange smiles. “Kraken,” Tamika says. “Huh?” I say. “Kraken,” Selene repeats. “Giant creatures…that inhabit our oceans. That’s why…none of the others…will go near the water.”

Frequently Asked Questions

You know, the idea of merfolk has always fascinated me—half-human, half-fish beings lurking in the depths. While there’s no concrete proof they exist, some theories suggest ancient sailors might’ve mistaken marine animals for them. Dugongs or manatees, for instance, have that vaguely humanoid shape when seen from a distance, especially in choppy waters. Early explorers like Christopher Columbus even wrote about spotting 'mermaids' that were likely these creatures. Folklore from cultures worldwide, from the Greek sirens to the Japanese ningyo, adds layers to the myth. Maybe it’s our brains trying to make sense of the unknown, or just a way to romanticize the ocean’s mysteries. Either way, the stories stick because they tap into something primal—our fear and wonder of what lies beneath.
