This guy isn't about to let her leave. The mechanic continued to ramble off numbers, going into detail to make sure Terra understood the price. She numbly nodded along, only really paying attention to her misfortune. “Now we can just add your vehicle to the system and order the parts.” The blood froze in her veins as her heart stopped beating. The system. He’s going to put it in the system. And then they will know exactly what car she was driving. She knew about the resources they have access to, and they could easily pluck up the record.

The old mechanic, a silver-haired wolf with grease permanently staining his fingertips, takes one look at the motorcycles and whistles. "Morning." "It's evening," Cassian corrects. "Not in my shop." The old man shrugs. "Time behaves differently around broken engines." I cannot help but roll my eyes as he tries to give his words of wisdom. He inspects the bikes, grunts twice, then announces, "Need parts. Roads are flooded. Earliest I can finish is tomorrow." I sigh, and Cassian nods. The mechanic scratches his beard. "Got one room upstairs." He looks between us with complete innocence. "Worn couch. Small bed. Roof doesn't leak unless the wind changes direction."

Rowan shut off the tablet. “Exactly.” They stepped out of the car. The garage door was half open. A warm yellow light spilled onto the wet pavement, and the smell of oil drifted into the cool air. Inside, a mechanic worked beneath the hood of a truck. A radio played softly somewhere in the back. The man looked up when Rowan and Taryn entered. “Shop’s closed.” Rowan showed his badge. The mechanic wiped his hands on a rag. “Alright. What’s this about?”

I lifted my head from his chest and looked at him with a suspicious frown, trying to put the puzzle pieces together. “Do you perhaps think the mechanic that worked your car and those bastards are working together?” He asked, wearing a malicious look. “Send me the mechanic’s details. I think it’s time I paid him a little visit.’ I looked away and sighed, worry plastering on my face. “I don’t think. Diesel isn’t that type of person.”

She appreciated it, but a teensy tiny part of her kind of wanted him to rant and rave, to show vocally and physically how much he cared. I'm such an indecisive ninny. It took a while before they were able to leave the garage. The mechanic's shaking head as he surveyed the damage not exactly an encouraging sign. "I don't know, Naomi," said the grizzled wolf-her dad's brother and favored uncle-who worked as head mechanic. "It might be better to simply buy a new car and write this one off."

Lariempi said emotionlessly “Lord please teach me how to kill them, even with my powers I could only watch…” Amelia said before breaking into tears again and Lariempi smiled slightly “You couldn’t kill them because your weapon was too inferior.” He said, he then raised his index finger and a drop of golden god-blood dropped from his finger and landed on the ground

"Oh my gods, thank you! I am starving." A self-pleased smirk replaces his smile when he responds "You're absolutely welcome. Shall we go?" I nod, and he leads the way back to his truck. We're at the mechanic's shop in less than 5 minutes, the shop almost walking distance from his home. The silver-haired mechanic, Steve, was a kindly gentleman who didn't charge me anything other than parts. "It was a labor of love to get you back on the road," he explains. "I honestly found the challenge of repairing your engine a truly engaging puzzle."

But Miko stayed in the doctor’s office and patiently waited her turn. “Uh, are you a MedTech too?” asked the doctor. Miko shook her head in response. “I’m an engineer, coder, designer,” she replied. “Oh, I see,” said the doctor. “Well, I can point you towards Mechanic’s Alley if you want. I’m sure they could use someone with your talents.” Miko shook her head again. “I glanced at some of their projects as I walked here,” she said. “None are interesting. However, I have a proposition for you. Judging from the bags under your eyes…”
