Carl waited outside the infirmary door, leaning against the wall, arms crossed.
When Mira stepped out, he didn’t say anything right away. He just looked at her, studying her face, reading her posture.
“You look like you went through ten simulations and a memory wipe,” he said softly.
She shrugged. “Felt like that, yeah.”
Carl reached into his pocket and pulled out a small device—a tiny silver pendant he’d forged in the academy's fabricator.
It was shaped like a mirror, but shattered down the center.
Mira raised an eyebrow. “Cute.”
