Spiro looked back at the road. “If we encounter raiders, we may negotiate or kill. If we encounter lesser creatures, we may avoid or fight. If we encounter scouts, we may silence them. If we encounter wraith-touched things, it depends how far gone they are. But a true wraith…” Spiro stopped. He stopped. “Hope we do not,” Spiro finished.
“You are a dragon,” Astrid said quietly. “Yes,” he answered. “And still?” Astrid asked. Spiro did not look back. “And still,” he replied.
