“Uhm, I know of him. That’s it.” Mike snorted, apparently finding my answer funny. “Tell me, Missy. Do you think he’s hot? Does he make you go weak in the knees? Does he make you think dirty things?” He snickered as he brushed his nose against my cheek. I pushed him away from me with a disgusted grunt. Mike cackled with delight. “Oh, I bet he does, doesn’t he? I bet you’re trembling right now.” I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to fight off the embarrassed blush which threatened to burn my cheeks.

I didn't expect I wouldn't be seeing him that day, but I had silent hopes that we could stumble in places and he would talk to me normally. I missed him. Yes, I do, but just like what I said before, I tried to focus my mind on staying healthy and growing the child inside my womb without thinking of anything that would stress me; however, it was such a great coincidence to see him at that church—-in all places. I didn't know what got into his head to smile at me after we hadn't seen each other for more than a month. That gay was indeed unpredictable as if he were a real woman.

Right when she’d heard t⁠he‍ s⁠ound. Her fingers trembled as she typed a reply: ‌ > W‌ho’s here wit⁠h me? ‍ No response‌. ⁠ She backed into the living roo‍m, glancing tow⁠ard the bo‍okshelf. The tiny red light was g‍o‌ne. S⁠he d‌idn’t re‌me‍mb⁠er‍ turning it off. Somethi‍ng i‌n her chest fractured then — not panic‌, not yet, b⁠ut t‍he slow crac‍king of tru‍st.

"How to Win and Argument Without Throwing a Punch." I exhaled through my nose hard. "He never finished that one..." She slid her finger to the next. "Betting against Rowan Pierce: A Historical Account of Poor Decisions." "That one..." I said, rolling my eyes, "He actually wrote..." "Of course he did." Savannah flashed a grin and kept scanning, "The Alpha's Bad Moods and How to Survive Them." I stared at her, my eyes flicking to the shelf. "That book doesn't exist." Savannah pulled it out, tapping the cover.

I had just returned home when my phone rang. My manager at the office said with a distant voice, "Miles, the company is reorganizing its structure. Your position has been eliminated. Are you free to come in this afternoon? Come in and complete the exit paperwork." I had been fired. I would not believe it if I were told that Gemma was not involved in this. She was a powerful and famous attorney; it was too easy for her to destroy someone's livelihood.

At the gathering, Sherry Lark became increasingly emotional. Her eyes were red, and she was slightly tipsy as she held onto Ian Glover's hand while tearfully talking about her regrets of the past. She said, "I never imagined it was all just a misunderstanding. If I'd known, I would've handed you the scarf myself instead of leaving it in your desk drawer. If I'd done that, you wouldn't have misunderstood and thought I liked someone else!" Sherry's emotions spiraled out of control. Stimulated by the alcohol, her wolf became unstable, and her scent fluctuated chaotically.

Megan's POV I couldn't believe I was holding a photo album in my hands. I didn’t understand why Ashton was giving me something like this, and my curiosity heightened. I became more excited to look at everything inside the old album. I slowly sat at the edge of the bed, leaned my back against the headboard, placed the memory book on my lap, and started scanning the old photo album.

I defended, knowing it wasn’t entirely true. “I’ve made a background research on you Miss Mia Cruise and I know for a fact that this office is like your secret lair, you still mourn the puppy you lost to a tragic accident three years ago even more than your late father and you are a huge fan of De Brans bar and go there every weekend to get drunk,” he said and caught his breath right on time. I gave him a puzzled look which slowly turned into a wicked smirk. “I’m sure this is an invalid case in the court of law,” I said, resting my head on my jaw.

So he never prepared before our registration. After they took a number and settled in to wait, I did not hesitate. I hailed a cab and headed straight home. The moment I walked in, I stripped off the skirt I had ironed carefully, shredded it, and watched it burn to ashes. I knew then, my seven-year love affair with him was meant to disappear just like that—up in smoke.
