Peering into the illuminated night, she looked out onto the mountain in hopes of spotting Marcus and his pack approaching the castle. She’d had no word from Ben about the rescue Jasper and the werewolves were planning for her, but this would be the prime time for them to do it. She closed her eyes and tried to visualize Jasper in his wolf form as he raced through the woods with the pack, but the pain in her back wouldn’t allow her mind to focus.

The monster staggers then she attacks the other one and stabs the key onto its stomach then she kicks backward the other monster on her back. "Too many monsters..." She ran closer, dropping to her knees beside Elizah’s body. With trembling hands, she removed the cloth covering the girl’s face. In an instant, Julie recoiled, her body trembling violently. “Elizah ....” she whispered in disbelief. “This can’t be.” When Julie tried to embrace her, Elizah screamed in terror. “Aaaah! Monster! Bastard!” she cried, shoving Julie away. Her body twisted wildly, her arms protecting herself as if fighting off a shadow only she could see.

The memories of the camping incident came flooding back, and I realized with a start that the monsters that had attacked us were the same creatures I saw before me. Stumbling backward in shock, I accidentally bumped into someone behind me, causing me to turn abruptly. It was Aric, his presence a comforting anchor amidst the chaos of my mind
