I turn back to the book I'm reading. It is written in old English, so it's difficult to understand. I flip the page to find a beautiful hand-painted illustration. It is a depiction of the Moon Goddess. There's a man standing next to her that looks like a king. They are surrounded by children. She is holding a baby in her arms with gray hair and violet eyes. The title on the next page says 'Menae - Children of Selene'. No freaking way.

As she read it, her eyes became bigger. I took the book from her and flipped through it some more. I handed it back to her, and she studied the picture on the page. “You have a scar that looks like this,” she informed me as if I didn’t know. It was cute. I nodded. I watched as they read over that section. She would look up and study me every now and then. It was as if she was trying to see what they were talking about. She wanted to understand what they were describing. Her eyes grew large, and I knew she’d made it to the last part. The moon cannot function without the sun. It does not shine. Jasper POV: My hands flipped through page after page of the documents in my office. Bank statements, hospital checklists, item checklists, warrior statuses. I growled in frustration as I buried my nose in these papers. The added task of omega tasking and party planning has also fallen to me since my Luna was in the hospital delivering her twins. I couldn't wait to see them, or smell them, so I would know exactly who to make an example of to the pack.

IRIS POV I wiped off the book shelf’s with a napkin, there were different books, history, pack welfare and war strategy. So, Ryker was the reading type. That's surprising, for a man who seemed to communicate mostly in threats. Mira was busy dusting off the sofa and cleaning the table spotless. I picked one of the books that caught my interest; Titled the history of the Moon. The paper made crinkly sound as I opened the page. My eyes skimmed the elegant writing about the Moon Goddess and the profound, inescapable nature of the mate bond.

He placed his hand on the door. It opened without resistance. Inside was a circular chamber filled with suspended pages—hundreds of them, floating like dead leaves in invisible wind. At the center stood a stone pedestal holding a single book bound in dark metal. The man approached it slowly. “You finally woke her,” he said. The book did not answer. It didn’t need to. He opened it. The pages turned on their own, stopping at a page that was no longer blank. Words burned into existence as he watched: The Moon Heir has awakened.
