Nadia's POV The full moon hung in the sky, its cold light flooding the bedroom and stretching long, faint shadows across the floor. The only warmth in the bedroom came from the fireplace. My heart raced, a chaotic mix of dread and longing. The mark on my neck—left by my Alpha during the last full moon—had begun to burn. Would he come tonight? Suddenly, a surge of power spiked through our Mind Link. “I’m reaching home.” Panic set in.

It was as if she was meant to be by his side. She did not know how to explain it better than that. But she knew that she was not here for anything else than begging the guy for mercy. “Thank you all for being here tonight. The moon festival is a time for joy and celebration. It’s a time to give thanks and adoration to the Moon goddess. It is a time for those who don’t have mates to find their partners. It is a time for the light of the moon to wash us clean from our sins and make us new again. Tonight, we celebrate! Tonight, we become one as a pack! Tonight, we live!” He exclaimed, and everyone cheered at the top of their lungs.

The Moon Festival was never meant for people like me. All around the clearing, wolves danced and laughed, their faces painted with silver crescents, clothes glowing with threads woven under moonlight. Lanterns floated overhead, their warm gold light casting shifting shadows on the stones below. The ancient pines swayed, whispering old prayers to the Moon Goddess. I stood at the edge of it all, half-hidden beneath the gnarled limbs of a hollow pine. My hands were clenched inside the sleeves of my simple robe—undyed, unadorned. I wasn’t dressed to be seen.

A stirring of something ancient and primal. The full moon was rising, and I could feel its power calling to me. I was a werewolf, and I had done something. Something terrible. But what? As the moon rose higher in the sky, I felt my body begin to change. My senses grew sharper, my muscles stronger. And then, everything went black again. When I came to, I was standing in the middle of a forest, surrounded by trees that seemed to stretch up to the sky. The moon was still rising, casting a silver glow over everything.

Max froze for a split second, then melted into it, his arms coming up to hold her gently, carefully, like she was something precious. "You’re a good person, Max," Mira whispered against his chest. "Even when you’re being stupid." He chuckled, the sound vibrating through both of them. "I’ll try to be less stupid," he promised. She laughed softly, pulling back just enough to look up at him. "Good," she said. "Because the Moon Festival is coming. And I want my friend with me. No drama. No jealousy. Just... us." Max felt something inside him settle. For now, he could live with that.

Max orders the maids to make sure that Sky eats some food while she waits until it's time to walk down the aisle. Zion, Marco, Jessica, and Sasha arrived where Max was having the wedding. Sasha shows them the floor plan on how to get around—trying to beat the clock now only having two hours before the full moon is at its highest peak. Zion let his wolf Caleb freely explore the area to see if he could smell his mate but where he was, he had no luck. Jessica ventured out onto a hill where she noticed a small house. Jessica surveyed the area; when she noticed that maids were coming and going, she knew that Sky had to be inside.

"She was telling you a mild form of the truth. Moon runs the largest crime syndicate in Arizona and New Mexico." I'm not sure what to say. Out of the smoke and into the fire is the thought that comes to mind. But maybe, just maybe they can save my niece. Mak was truly angry at the Crows for treating Kiley the way they did. Moon's organization might be deadly, but I have trouble believing they're worse than Fox and his gang. Most likely that's my naïveté speaking. Dreading the answer, I ask anyway. "Who are you to Moon?"

The Blood Moon loomed overhead, casting an eerie glow over the land. Its light seemed to pulse with the weight of ancient power, the sky painted in crimson and gold as the stars disappeared beneath its shadow. Raynor stood at the edge of the Frostfang Peaks, looking out over the vast expanse of the land. The clans were scattered, divided, broken by years of bloodshed and war, but he knew—this was the moment they would either be healed or destroyed.

Just like me. But it’s not the truth of what he is that rattles me most. It’s what he said: Finding me tonight. Because tonight, there’ll be a full moon.

The weight of their shared destiny had been lightened, if only for a moment, by the assurance of their love. Just as the evening sky darkened, Max's gaze shifted towards the horizon. The moon, with its silvery glow, was on the cusp of rising. He knew what this meant for Kylie—her first transformation into a wolf. "Kylie," Max said gently, his voice carrying a mixture of awe and reassurance, "the moon is about to rise. It's time for your first turn. Know that I'll be right beside you, guiding you every step of the way."
