"Countess, the population of the west is barely seventy, and that's excluding the sick. Unlike the north, south, and the capital, which are densely populated, the west isn't," one of my guests, Hans, explained with a chuckle.
"People believe the West is bad luck, and no matter how cheap the lands are, no one buys. When we heard you were relocating here, we knew a miracle had come."
His words reverberated within me. This place, the West, represented an opportunity for me to make a lasting impact, to establish a sense of belonging.
