Plopping down next to him I leaned back, and he slung his arm around the back of the couch, his hand resting easily on my shoulder.
“Now that we are all here” Alpha Alex said, eyes scanning the room, “Xavier, our librarian can tell us what is going on.” He nodded to the older man as he gestured him to sit in his chair, Xavier shuffled slowly and sank into Alex’s oversized chair. His cloudy eyes looked at each one of us in turn, seeming to see through us, into us.
“I had thought it a myth, something I read once in an old book; but now I find it happening in front of my eyes.” He set a barely held together book on the table, the binding frayed and in danger of falling apart at any moment.
