He looked out of place in a city apartment—too tall, too broad, and still carrying the scent of the sea.
"You're actually going in there today?" Ashton asked, leaning against the counter. "After he basically treated you like a glitch in his software?"
"I have to, Ash," I said, my voice steadier than I felt. "If I quit now, he wins. He gets to keep his 'Legacy' and pretend I never happened. I'm not ready to let him have that peace of mind."
"Just remember," Ashton said, his eyes serious. "I’m at the Makati Med check-in today, but my phone is on. If that 'King' says one word that makes you look like you’ve been standing in the rain again, I’m walking into that lobby myself."
