I can see his chest moving. Reece pushes past me and crouches beside him immediately. Check his pulse with two fingers. Lifts one eyelid and examines the pupil. Tilts his head and looks at his mouth. "Same compound," he says quietly. "Powder form, most likely. Mixed into food or drink. He'll wake up in a few hours with nothing but a headache and no memory of the last four." Four hours. They've had four hours. I look at the door to Kael's room.

I frowned and moved to the next mirror. Once again, it started as a distorted version of myself. This time I was in the Scream painting. But as the image melted away, I saw August.
