All of it screamed familiarity. “I don't understand,” I muttered, frustrated by the way memories kept slipping away. “Why do I feel like I know you?” More hours passed. Or maybe days. Hard to tell in a room with no windows, no clock, nothing but endless white walls and the steady rhythm of two heartbeats. I dozed off at some point, exhaustion finally winning. The dreams were weird-fragments of memories that didn't feel like mine. A woman singing that same lullaby. Silver eyes filled with tears. A child's laughter.

After the voice changer, my friend's voice really did sound a lot like his. No wonder Madison believed without question that he was LeoWinter. "You're mute, after all. If AutumnWind ever found out the truth, wouldn't she be disappointed?" Bruce smirked smugly. "Even though I stole your place, I'm the perfect LeoWinter in her eyes." How quickly all that went away. I pushed a few keys, the notes soft in the quiet room. Then I adjusted to sit well, cracking my fingers a little, and started playing. The melody of *River Flows in You* by Yiruma filled the room slowly. My fingers moved across the keys, a little hesitant at first, but the familiar notes came back to me. The song felt gentle, almost sad, like it was carrying all the memories I tried not to think about. I closed my eyes for a bit, letting my fingers find their way, the music soft and flowing.

These were two of the most powerful mages in the entire guild anyone would want to learn from this fight. Melody had been looking forward to this for a long time. She couldn't contain her excitement any longer. She tapped the energy core on the right armrest and the harp began playing a soothing song that sounded like a lullaby. Her aura is different from everyone elses in here, stronger, purer even. But it's her eyes that throw me. She has the most gorgeous turquoise eyes, deep yet completely empty. That can only mean one thing. She's been here for far too long. I guess we all end up measuring our own hopes for escape, to the lack of life we see in Mute's eyes. Lightsticks beamed brightly in the darkness, flooding the space with vibrant hues. "Silence speaks for those who listen." Kyle's magnetic voice came through as he jumped down the swing. It made me think of running in open fields, beautiful medows, sunshine, flowers and other things I couldn’t place my hands on. The melody followed a pattern, the piano making a solo tune, something like a flute accompanying in this solo while the guitar and other instruments backing up in this melody and creating a profound harmony. I don’t know for how long I sat in the silence of my car listening to this strange music without a source.
