As it touched him, Daniel was sucked in then the portal instantly sealed behind him. When he reached the other side of space and time, Daniel stood before the gates he had seen in his mind. He walked to them then took a deep breath as he stepped through and followed the path that lay past it. As he entered the Great Hall of the city in the woods, Daniel turned around slowly and took in the ethereal dream-like views. He thought it must be the heaven he had read about once in the ancient books he found when he plundered the cities he took over.

Sharlene was reading too. Daniel happened to pass by. “Pss…. Pss…”, he whispered. Sharlene turned around. She couldn’t see anyone. “Sharlene..”, he whispered again. Sharlene turned her head back and saw Daniel waving at her. She stood up and saw him on the entry of one of the shelves columns. She went there. “Why are you here?”, she whispered. “Help me find the alumni books, will you? I need to find about my dad and that woman who was with my dad”, He whispered.

We did the project and even lost track of time. Our heads snapped to the door as we heard the door creak open, and in comes Daniel. Holding his books in one hand and probably dinner in the other. "Woah, I didn't know we had a guest. Who is this beautiful damsel?" He asked. "Keep your eyes off her Daniel." I warned him, mainly because he has a girlfriend and she has anger issues. She would skin Scarlet alive if she found out he called her a beautiful damsel. "Relax Fabian, I won't touch your girl." He said and gave me a wink before walking to his bed.

A journal Daniel had kept during the last year of his life. And in that journal, among all the raw painful entries about the addiction and the fear and the desperate attempts to get clean, there were several detailed entries about Damien about conversations Damien had with Daniel. About things Damien had told Daniel when he thought Daniel was too far gone to be a reliable witness to anything and things about his plans.

We looked at each other across the small terrible room and the letter sat between us like a grenade neither of us knew how to put down, then my phone vibrated again on the table, both of us turned, unknown number, one attachment, I opened it slowly and the image loaded in pieces, top to bottom, the way terrible things always seemed to arrive. Daniel sat in a chair, his hands weren't tied, he wasn't blindfolded, he wasn't afraid, he looked straight into the camera like he knew exactly who would be watching. Then he smiled. Across the bottom in red were four words. *He chose us first.*

Daniel said “I can’t wait for that,” Alexa said “You, your life and everything else,” Daniel said Daniel looks at Alexa and knows that everything else he needed was right in front of him. He pulled Alexa by his side and kiss her forehead. Daniel also knows that it might be difficult for Alexa since everything happened so quickly. They were at a simple diner and they ordered their food. Alexa ordered something creamy and meaty but Daniel sticks with a much healthier variation of food. They eat while talking about the meeting Daniel attended. Daniel said that the meeting is about the leaders who have supported him. He told her that the leaders from the different planets they have visited will

very terrified. Who is Daniel? How does he make a living? What does he do in his free time? What is his favorite food? He is a mystery to me! And even so, I can't stop thinking about him. Daniel Ansdell. I repeat his name once more. Who are you, Daniel? The question reappears in my mind. Why do I feel so much for you? Why can't I stop thinking about you for a single second? "I hope to see you soon, beautiful."

Her mum replied. Emily shook her head, "No, Mom, think about it. Why would Daniel come for me? He has all the girls around him. He could get anyone. But he was literally obsessed with me, and I had never met him before. Why would he come for me out of everyone else? I asked him that question once, and he said it was because I was his mate. Doesn't that mean that I'm supposed to be his partner for life? Mom, you said something about hearing growling sounds when you were with Dad, right?"

He was wearing a tuxedo and Daniel, my son , loves to see a man in a tux. "Mommy Mr. Desmond is so cool." Daniel said in excitement. "Yes he is." I replied and Daniel suddenly fell silent. "Danny what's wrong?" I asked in concern. "Mommy, when will I meet my Daddy?" Danny asked as he looked up to me with hopeful eyes and I smiled sadly. "I don't know hunny,don't you like spending time with Mommy?" I asked him and his shoulders dropped. " I love Mommy but I want a Daddy as well. Joseph always talks about how he and his Dad play football together and I want to do that with my Daddy as well." Daniel replied as he played with the pencil he was holding.

So, stay safe and eat the chocolate! I laughed out loud as I read the last part, having heard every word in Daniel's voice. Beneath his note was more writing in a different color ink and beautiful script handwriting: Miss you dearly, Ella! I found your grandfather's book while I was in the office last week, so I've included it in Daniel's box of junk food. I knew you would probably want to have it back.
