Daniel had been so upset. 'everyone can see your ass, things will get out of hand yada yada.' he'd complained all through. "Well I'm still pretty pissed though I'm not going to lie," a frown sat on his face, "did you see the way that man was fucking staring at your boobs, it's not too long before they start asking you out, asking for your number, where to meet you and..." "And none of that mostly matters Daniel, after all I'm with you for a reason, ain't I?" I shook my head, "all these men want me but I want you."

asked Kiera. “Book,” Daniel answered. “I can see that, but what book?" Kiera asked, her curiosity piqued. Daniel groaned, turning his head toward her. “Can’t you sit quietly?" Kiera chuckled, undeterred by Daniel's annoyance. Kiera shook her head. “I want to talk to you.” Daniel sighed, closing his book. “But why?” “I don’t know, maybe because we are friends.” Kiera answered with a smile. “When did that happen? I don’t remember making you my friend.” Daniel said, turning his attention to his book. “And I don’t need any friends in my life.”

I confessed, my voice barely above a whisper. His eyes flicked to the book, then back to mine. “You read it?” I nodded, feeling suddenly exposed. “There were things she never told anyone,” Daniel said, voice low and thick. “Things she kept locked away, just like this house.” The room seemed to shrink, the space between us charged with an invisible pull. I glanced down, heart pounding, then back up to meet his gaze. “Do you ever wonder what it would be like to break the rules?” I asked, my voice trembling with the weight of the question.

"Well uh Daniel, make yourself at home, we will be going to your house at about 5? So um...." Okay I guess I'm gonna have to save Matt here. "Great, we'll be in my room" I say and grab Dan's had and drag him to my room. "Welcome to my humble....room?" I say when we enter. Dan steps in behind me and does a quick scan. He notices my book case and walks towards it and grabs a book from the shelf. "The Spanish Love Deception?" Dan says as he shows me the book he grabbed off my shelf. "Yeah, all my books are basically romance novels, it's the best genre" I say.

My brain explodes with excitement, and the horrible emotions leading up to this moment completely fade as I think over the possibility of meeting my long-lost Aunt. "That is so awesome," I finally whisper, and Daniel nods. "It is," he replies, and I grin. "The secrets never seem to end here in Wyoming, do they," I ask, and he shrugs. Shola having succeeded in hiding the book continued answering the questions but to his astonishment, Daniel paused his words and threw in a question that pushed him off balance, putting him in a quagmire. Daniel asked; “Was it at seminary you bought that scary black book?” “Which book?” Shola asks back with a concerned face under consternation. “The black book I just saw you reciting words from before I fully opened your door. You were even beating your chest with a scrawled face.” Daniel responds now with a more serious look.

Naa I’m not sure that’s what she could be looking for besides the book is not hers. They all move for a while both not saying anything. The reason for her silence is because she didn’t get what she came looking for. Daniel however is getting guiltier the longer she stays silent. He has said a sentence or two without getting any response; nevertheless, he wasn’t willing to give the book, not until he explores it. Daniel being the first thing on the page was enough reason for him to take the book for himself.

He sits next to me, picking me up and placing me on his lap. “What are you reading?” Daniel mumbles into my hair. “That book I started. One of Us Lying” I show him the cover. “How is it?” He draws circles on my stomach. “Its really good. Definitely one of my favorites. I’m on page one hundred and seven” I shiver. “Damn girl, you read that fast” He laughs. “Yeah” I fold the corner, saving my spot and place the book down. “What are you wearing?” Daniel laughs, picking at the silky material.

Gina sat on the sofa with a book open in her hands while Daniel sat beside her, leaning slightly toward the pages as he read aloud. “…to f-find…” He stopped suddenly. His brows furrowed as he stared hard at the word on the page. “…his… his…” “Family,” Gina said gently. Daniel’s face brightened. “Family!” he repeated proudly before continuing. “…his family who were waiting for him at the edge of the valley.” I felt something shift quietly in my chest as I watched them. Daniel’s legs swung slightly as he sat there reading, his small finger following the lines of text as if he were determined not to lose his place.
