" Everyone else got off their pegasi and we all walked with him. On the way there, I was enjoying the fresh air so much, that I didn't notice the snake that was hanging on my foot. I looked down, "Sid! I know that's you!" Gryphon and King Chiron laughed. Sid went to change and came back asking, "How did you know?" I answered, "Because all other snakes slither away when they see us. They don't grab on for dear life." I laughed. Trina and the other guards just shook their heads in disbelief. We continued to make small talk until we reached King Chiron's office. We walked in, and it was huge. But I guess it would have to be for a man who is half horse.

Viex and Custard were immediately at my side and pawing at my foot worriedly. Serena whistled as she came to my side. “I have never seen this reaction before. That curse must have been a tough cookie to crack.” Then she looked at Fred. “What are you standing there for? Give her magic to help free your friend!” She scolded him. “Right.” Fred nodded and held my hand. Instantly, I felt the flow of his magic transferring to me before I felt it leaving again. Ace looked like he was in pain has he kept biting his lips until they bled.

She said leaning against the tree. “Look at the bright side. Carpe Diem.” I told her. I placed my hand on her shoulder. Sil leaned her head and closed her eyes. “I wish one day will be different.” I was about to nod when a dark shadow blocked the light. “Look girls it’s the siblings.” A girl with a high-pitched voice pitched in. “Look Sil, it’s the girl with no siblings and fake friends.” I said smiling at her. Sil laughed. “Very funny.” She said.

There was a second impact as Toby joined her, squeezing all the air out of me. And I let a little trickle of magic wind its way out of me—a tiny bit of grace—and let that magic latch onto Cass and Toby. It was a tiny charm, the work of a second. The woman did not listen to what the mage said... in my next attack she caught my hand and quickly grabbed my sword and thrust it into my back with the sword on fire. "Well done Phoebe, I never doubted you" the mage had a smirk on his lips as he uttered those words.

You should give her one.” “She’s, my horse?” I asked. “She’s not a horse; she’s a unicorn. The horn only comes when she’s using her magic. She’s yours, and you belong to her. Unicorns choose their fae companions. It’s rare, but it happens. You’re very fortunate. Unicorns are brilliant creatures, and when they bond to a fae, it’s as if they are one in battle. She’ll know your thoughts, and you’ll know hers.”

I tore at them with my hands, and Roland helped to untangle me. When I was finally free, I crawled to Imogen, credling her in my arms, and sobbing into her hair. Imogen had been my first real friend in the Summit Mist pack, Phoebe too, but Imogen really understood me. Phoebe was always confident in my abilities. Imogen was much stronger, but she understood the need to be who you are first, and not get consumed by the magic, not let it be your identity.
