They were thousands of wooden stakes driven into the permafrost, and on each stake was a skull. "The Blood-Crag border," Leo said, joining us at the ridge. He looked at the field of skulls with a grimace. "Silas used to tell me these were the enemies of the pack. I realize now they were probably just the ones who asked too many questions." As we walked through the Whisper-Posts, a sound began to rise. It wasn't the wind. It was a literal whisper—thousands of voices, dry and rattling, coming from the empty eye sockets of the skulls.

The more dangerous the better, and if they could recover something special, he’d be the first to plan the trip. “Oh yes, the crystal skulls. Yes, that would have been nice if they’d been real. You have to admit, mine makes a great bookend. Fine, I will resist saying yes to him. However, you must admit that was an excellent adventure.” The skull in question sat at the far end of the library on a shelf, holding up several books. Nothing odd there, not in a house full of witches where people left cinnamon on all the entrances and bells decorated everywhere. They found pieces of bones in various corners, discreetly tucked away. Even the greenhouse in the back garden held far more than it should

Raven burst out laughing " That's so funny, how can you even see a person's skull through thier head" " You're right, it's a joke" " Wait a minute? Are you for real... Raven hastily ammended once she saw the look on his face. " I'm a skull researcher, I've been researching skulls since I was little, it's a boring topic and I don't want to bore you to death with it" " I want to know more, I promise, it's not boring, I'm always willing to learn about new things" She should have been horrified when she heard him say he was into skulls but what she felt was the exact opposite.

I smiled. "It's beautiful." I turned around and placed a soft kiss on his lips. "I'm glad you like it. I found it last month, when I was walking and clearing my head and trying to stay calm." "Is it because of those skulls men?" "Yeah, it bothers me a lot that they're still out there free." He sighed. "What if they're dead? I mean a lot can happen in five years." I told him. "They're not, they sent me a package with a pig head and a note that said, 'this will be your head if you rat us out, and maybe your little sister's too'."

Although scared, but the skull is quite curious. I climbed the stairs one by one to take a closer look. The skull seemed to give energy to the fire and keep it from dying. Whose skull is this? When I turned around, the man who was chasing me was right behind. He looked at me with a grin and swung the long knife in his arm. 'AAAAA!' "Beverly, wake up!" Mommy's voice wake me up. She also patted my cheek. "Oh my God! What's going on with you."

The sanctuary. Relief surged through me. I took a step forward. The ground trembled. At first, I thought it was an earthquake. But then the bones around me began to move. A single skull turned, its hollow sockets glowing faintly. Another followed. And another. Bones clicked and slid into place, forming massive shapes that rose from the earth with eerie grace. Within moments, I was surrounded by skeletal wolves, their ribs gleaming like silver in the mist. Terror rooted me where I stood.

I already burned several lights out and Eva jumped when one blew as she passed it. A small pile of tattered rags lay against the wall in a small niche. “Don’t touch that. It’s been there a long time. We can look at it later.” Haden told the others. He didn’t want to mention the tiny, yellowed skull in the shadows of the niche. If this was a normal resort, he’d have thought it a dog’s skull. But the history of the building said otherwise. That was a child’s skull of a wolf shifter.

But when I lifted my gaze, his sinfully seductive gaze melted my innards. Gulping, I watched him flash his pearly whites knowingly, the two fangs slightly longer than the incisors. For some reason, it made me remember the story I’d been reading, with the werewolf—Declan—when he’d been in his animal form, and blood had dripped from his canines as he’d prowled toward his lady. Which made me remember that I’d forgotten all about finishing Dec and Celeste’s story. I’d gotten obsessed with thinking about and researching other things since then.

After verification, Adrienne judged that the heads found by the police officers were indeed human skulls. However, whether those were the heads of the four deceased, they had to take the skulls back to the police station for a further DNA test before they could confirm it. Looking at the scattered bones, Quill was extremely frustrated. He cursed, "Lewis is a beast. What grudges did he hold that he would do such a thing to these four people?" Upon hearing that human skulls were found in his slaughterhouse, Victor was terrified. With trembling legs, he walked up to Quill and asked timidly, "Sergeant Scott, are these skulls really human skulls? Did Lewis really do it?"

I still remember our last meeting when the wolf said goodbye in a touching way. Suddenly he turned into a bunch of fireflies and disappeared into the evening light, just like Ani's mother. "What's happening here?" I wondered aloud, full of amazement, hoping the magic wolf would understand. "What's confusing you? Ani's grandmother's story, or the mystery of my being here?" the wolf replied, laughing a little, as if he was making a joke. "Both," I replied quickly.
