The Wicked witch Inside the cage there were five other rats plus me to make six in number. They were all laughing at me at first and I asked why they were laughing, the youngest one said am ugly. I was so keen to leave the cage. I did not know what to do because I was a rat. I tried to destroy the cage by pushing it hard.

“I have a pet rat named Sir Itsy. He’s a familiar.” My eyes nearly bugged out of my head. “Really?” She nodded vigorously. “He’s very old, but he doesn’t look it.” Raven chuckled. “Well, you can tell them all about Sir Itsy over dinner.” I looked over at Jase and smiled. “And do you have a pet, too?” He chuckled. “I have a cat named Sour Puss.” I laughed. “You named him that?” Jase shook his head. “No, he told me what his name was.” He shrugged. “He’s not up to meeting new people, but he likes me.”

Gandr told them, flicking his eyes to gauge their response. "A c-cave rat?" The gnomes told stories about cave rats but no one could confirm if they were real. They were rumored to grow as large as a unicorn and liked to eat gnome-lets for breakfast. "It was just a baby cave rat. I ate it to make sure it would not grow up. You heard its final scream."Gandr went back to picking his teeth. "What about its mother?" All the gnomes began to back away and look frantically at the walls.

"No rat grows this size. And those eyes... they're not normal." "It's like it's been... mutated or something," Lira said, her words faltering as though she couldn't even believe them.

I went to bed that night in anticipation of a dead rat but I woke up the next morning, and the fish was missing but I could perceive no stench smell. I began to notice their presence after I returned from the burial but I had never seen the rat until the moment I met it speeding on the hallway and I dodged towards my room door like I was the one trespassing on its land. It was a huge rat. Maybe it was referred to as Mancho in its land, maybe it even worked out. It was just that huge. It sped to the kitchen. I called Tunde immediately. I knew rats do not bite but I always jumped at the sight of it.

Geneva loosened her fierce grip on his arm and picked up the rat that didn't even squirm. "Ghost rats can't be dangerous or have rat diseases, can they?" She could feel his shrug even with her back turned. "Our own personal ghost pet and I'll name it Mickey." She announced. "How sure are you that it's a male?" "Then give them a place to live in your house, and then they will not live in a dirty place." Kabir said while tying the bandage on her leg. "I've kept a rat. Enough. No one else needs ..." She laughed and said. "So you're calling me a rat ..." "I didn't even name anyone. It's called a straw in a thief's beard." She messed up Kabir's hair and spoke mischievously.

That said a lot for a girl who once couldn't stop talking. The rest of our friends, whom we affectionately called the 'Royal Rat Pack', trickled in soon after us. The name 'Rat' came from the word Brat. The adults used to joke and call us 'little brats' when we were younger, and Aaron couldn't say the 'b' in Brat, so we adopted the name.
