At seven months pregnant we finally decided on a name, or rather, two names since we didn't know the gender.
"Stella Catherine if it's a girl," Emma said. "And James Adrian if it's a boy."
"James?" I asked.
"After our lawyer," Adrian explained. "He's saved our asses more times than I can count."
"Fair point," I agreed.
The nursery was finished with a crib Adrian had spent weeks assembling and neutral colors that would work for either gender, and walking into it made everything feel real.
"We're about to be parents," I said, standing in the doorway.
