she spat, forcing the words out from underneath my hand, glaring up at me with a defiance that had no business existing in someone I was actively strangling. That was the wrong answer. Rage went white-hot behind my eyes. My claws extended fully, and I pressed them to the bare skin of her throat — not deep enough to kill, but deep enough to promise it. A thin line of red welled up beneath them. The sound she made — half choke, half sob — was the sweetest thing I'd heard since I came to this Academy. Tears spilled down a face that was, infuriatingly, still beautiful even wrecked like this, even purpling at the edges where my fingers dug in.

If she lost the baby, it would mean she was truly meant to be separated from it. Determined, Nyla tilted her body sideways, causing the chair to topple over and crash to the ground. The pain was intense, but she pushed it aside and used her knees to move toward the nearest shard of ceramic. She maneuvered her body into an awkward position to reach it. After what felt like an eternity, Nyla, drenched in sweat, finally grasped a shard. She used the shard to cut through the ropes binding her hands. The shard sliced into her fingers, but she didn't flinch or stop.

He shrugged. White Claw Pack is a chaotic pack, it’s full of distinct personalities, some good some bad, but Axel loves leading them. They all have a sense of camaraderie and loyalty that makes Axel feel so grateful for having such members. And for him, the pack is a family. They can’t fit in a family tree, so he made a whole forest. White Claw Pack exceeds the standards of a werewolf pack. It’s great overall and has the best people, the best system, but the pack lacks a maternal figure. All they have is Axel, and he isn’t that warm. The pack needs a mother—a Luna. And he wouldn’t want to disappoint, so he’ll try his very best to win over Leal’s heart.

“Show me your hands.” I lifted them. Her breath caught. “Claws,” she whispered. I looked down. My nails had lengthened, sharp and curved, faintly golden at the tips. Panic shot through me. “No. No, this isn’t—” “Breathe,” Freya said quickly, catching my wrists. “Panicking makes it worse.” “I can’t stop it!” “You can. Listen to me.” Her grip tightened. “Focus on me. Just me. My voice.” I gasped, trembling. “It hurts.”

Drake is startled by her sudden violent behavior. "Let me go" Nyra yelled. She is using all her might to escape from Drake, whom she is considering as her kidnapper. "Relax" Drake tried to soothe her, but she is not listening to him at all. In her desperation, she landed a kick on Drake's chest and she scratched his forearm. "Nyra stop" Drake understood that she is panicked. But no matter whatever he says, she is not all listening. Instead, she intensified her attack on him.

She then jabbed fiercely at Nora’s stomach. “Poof!” Nora hadn’t expected Sheela to attack her at this moment at all. Moreover, Sheela was way too fast. It happened so quickly that Nora couldn’t react in time. Sheela’s hand pierced through Nora’s stomach, and her entire hand appeared behind Nora’s back… No, that wasn’t a hand anymore. Instead, it was a dark red claw with ugly patterns and scales on it. “Nora!” Jade shouted angrily and raised her hand like a sword.

I don’t know if what Chloe told Naya, but right now I just want to say her name over and over, so I lost it away. “Adam.” I extend my arms in front of me for a hand shake. Naya smiles at Chloe. “I’m Naya.” She speaks softly. Why can’t she look me in the eyes? She places her hand on top of my hand, giving it a little shake. She pulls away quickly soon after I feel her soft skin. . “Are you guys okay?” Chloe suspects. Her eyes swinging back and forth between us. Naya nods, saying, “Why wouldn’t we be okay? I’m not really used to shaking stranger’s hands that’s why it’s making me feel uncomfortable a little.” She says leaving a bit of a nervous laugh at the end.

It should have worked. Now, Lunara said. And gave Nyma her claws. It came up through her hands like lightning finding ground her fingers elongating, her nails becoming something else entirely, silver-edged and crackling with an energy that had no name in any language Nyma had been taught. Not a full shift. Not even close. Just Lunara's claws, manifested through Nyma's hands while the rest of her stayed human, stayed mother, stayed the vessel the child needed her to be.

I needed to find a way to gain the upper hand, to use my strengths to my advantage. As I circled around Leah, I noticed a weak spot in her defense. She was leaving her left side open, and I knew that I could exploit it. I took a deep breath, focusing all my energy on the fight. With a swift and precise movement, I struck at Leah's exposed side, my claws extended and ready to tear her apart. But Leah was quick, and she managed to dodge most of the blow. Still, I managed to graze her side, and she let out a pained growl as she stumbled back.

one breathed, voice reverent. “Good,” another replied. “That saves us the trouble.” Nyxara lunged. She fought not as a woman, not as anything resembling a human, but as a creature of legacy: all bone and claw and fury honed by generations of survival and loss. She snapped one collector’s neck and felt the resistance, saw the bones twist and knit themselves back together, wrong and unnatural. She shattered another’s arm, watched the flesh reform, as if time itself bent to their will.
