That day never came.
The next thing that captured my eyes was the giant brass pendant chandelier hanging from the ceiling which looked Art Deco by way of Tiffany. It had to weigh at least a hundred pounds. I had a vision of standing under it and having it fall on my head to crush me flat, and people around me would just continue on with their conversations, eating their crudités, and drinking their cocktails without missing a beat.

There were framed family photos hanging in the corridor that led to the dining area. I couldn’t take my time to admire the images, but there was a large picture of Javier in full football gear holding a ball in his hands, and smiling so
