We were now attracting attention because of their loud voices. "Pay for my drinks!" "You're the dumbest nerd I've ever met!" They added, and it wasn't just their comments that I heard, but also the side comments from the people around me.

“Take care. Talk soon.” She rings off and I exhale my frustration in a groan—although I’m not sure who I’m most frustrated with. Richard? Daniel? Gavin? Gunter? All men? No, not all men. Maybe all men except various honorable exceptions, viz: Barnaby; my lovely milkman, Neville; the Dalai Lama, obviously— My eyes suddenly focus on my reflection in my computer screen and I lean forward in horror. Oh God, they are no help. Well, fuck you too. So, I stick up my middle finger at them. That when their expression changes to a what the hell, and it went to a sad expression with what we do wrong. But I wanted to laugh because the look on their faces was priceless. Yeah, see that! This nerd, quiet, wallflower, loser, does not have a voice and she is not going to take anyone's shit anymore. I gave them another bird and I had a smile on my face.

Nate's eyes darkened as the corner of his lips slowly and deliberately curved into an amused smirk. "Hello, nerd." His voice came out raspy in that ridiculously enchanting accent of his. "Want to join the show?" My heart was thumping so loud in my chest I thought it was going to explode. I didn't know what to do or say.
