I quickly brought out my phone taking the guy's contact. ~ Right now we were arranging our things in our new house. I got a call from Xavier asking if I was there yet. It felt weird. If you had told me about this some time ago, I wouldn't have believed it. He was calling me every hour, doesn't he get tired, not that I wasn't happy about him calling me... I blush. "Mommy, I saw a man outside." This took Layla's attention, who would be here at this time, it was pretty late.

The next morning, as Trent stood in front of the kitchen window drinking his coffee, he debated whether or not to close the blinds. He looked across the yard towards his neighbor’s house. It appeared empty. With a small shrug, he decided to keep the blinds as they were. She had probably got bored of watching him at that point. He was something new. Trent understood that, just as he knew he wasn’t the most exciting person.

I wondered. I walked slowly towards the window with my arms wrapped around me. I grabbed the window handles to pull them back to close it but I stopped midway when I noticed the lights next door. Who could that be? The house beside us was empty for over a year. I squinted and could actually see the inside of the room through the window adjoining mine. Like seriously, I could strangle the guy who constructed these houses like that. So damn close! Anyway, we finally got some new neighbours. What an odd time to move in though, I couldn't help but think. I just hope they would be nice. My parents could have some pals.

I couldn't understand why my friend said the man looked familiar, but then I realized it was Joe, my neighbor and Lesley's husband. Sometimes we would travel together, and I would post our group pictures online, so it wasn't surprising that my friend recognized him. Seeing the way they acted around each other, it didn't seem like they had only just gotten close the night before. When did it all start? After they left, I got out of the car and installed surveillance at home, then checked the trash in the bedroom. My fist tightened in anger when I saw what was in there.

Jartre asks. “My new neighbour.” Which reminds me… “Speaking of,” I start, earning an inquisitive look from my white-haired fox as I take a few steps forward and lean against my kitchen counter. “I found it extremely surprising that the same day Julie tried to goad me into a fight in the hallway, she mysteriously moved out and, come the following day, I have new neighbours. I don’t suppose you’d know anything about that, would you?” I ask pointedly. “Not sure I’d call that ‘mysterious’. Perfect timing sounds more appropriate,” he says unperturbed, sliding his hands into his skin-tight jeans.

I mumbled, feeling lost in thoughts. We are quiet for a while until he opens his mouth again. The things he spews has be clenching my fists. “I have a best friend now. Just like you and Uncle Gabe have Uncle Travis as your best friend” he begins. “That’s good” I was in no mood to chat. My mood was soured. Noah didn't seem to get the hint though. He kept talking. “His name is Gunner and he is our new neighbor. They moved in about a week ago”

It was a far cry from the grandeur of the pack mansion, but the simplicity of it offered me something I desperately craved – freedom. I stepped out of the car, taking in the earthy scent of the nearby woods and the gentle chirping of birds. It was a stark contrast to the silence that had enveloped my old home. This was a fresh start, a chance to rediscover who I was without Thorne's shadow looming over me. "Welcome, Azalea," said a friendly voice from behind me. Startled, I turned to see my new neighbor, a middle-aged woman with kind eyes and a warm smile. "I'm Donna. If you need anything, just knock."

I replied, my voice sounding normal enough, but my chest still felt tight. He sat his bag down, glancing toward the window. "Oh, did I tell you? We've got new neighbours next door." I turned towards the window with a fake look of surprise and shock, as if I hadn't already had an encounter with him. "Really?" "Yeah, he moved in earlier. Young guy, I think. Saw him once or twice when I was moving around. He seems alright." My throat caught for half a second before I could cover it with a nod. "Oh? I haven't noticed."

She hurried towards the door, clicking the button with a broad smile on her face. "Hello... My name is Lena and I'm your new neighbor."

All l could focus on was the sight of my hand reaching for the door as the silhouette outside remained unmoving on the porch. Once the door clicked and swung open , l released a breath that l didn't realize l was holding. A red haired , potable sized girl in sun glasses immediately took in my appearance. "Are you the new neighbor?", She asked. My mouth opened up but l didn't respond sooner. Ignoring strangers was part of my life and I no longer needed friends ever since Amanda betrayed me. Something was really strange on her.
