Supernatural creatures from all over New Orleans were arriving to grace the occasion. I exchanged pleasantries with some witches from the French Quarter and showed them where their table was. Vampires came in, looking dapper in expensive suits. That was usually the case for them. I had this belief that they always wanted to be the best dressed wherever they went. It was something that made whatever carnage they unleashed even more morbid.

I prefer to use my new sneaker and thought the ensemble is perfect. Outside the hotel, Ficus took us into on the French Quarter to have some nice and very delicious cuisine of New Orleans. I bite into a Muffaletta and Po Boys and the desserts like Beignets, King Cakes, and some of their non-alcoholic beverage. I was so full, I can’t even move for a bit. “Wow, I love food. I can even feel my stomach already bloated.” Aaron choke as soon as I was finishing my sentences.

“Well so far you have been two for two Leo. I’m game.” Leo smiled and spoke something to the driver. Not long afterwards the taxi pulled up to a charming café called Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole. It was a white building with a nice splash of teal on its sign and window frames, purple tables and chairs out front made a pretty contrast. White Christmas lights were strung along the front of it complete with fake snow and a large manger scene depicting the well known story of Jesus’s Birth. “In spring and summer, vines grow all up the front of it,” said Leo, “they say it’s the prettiest café in the city.”

Caitlin Paine sped down the West Side Highway, determined to reach the Cloisters before they closed. Her mind spun, as she reflected on all the troubles that were besieging Scarlet—troubles that no teenager should have. Scarlet was changing, Caitlin was sure of it. She was no mere human anymore, and each day, she was getting worse. Caitlin sensed that she was becoming what she, Caitlin, had once been herself: a vampire.

- Maris said as she walked over to the edge of the table and pulled down the tablecloth to cover the remaining owl. - I can't throw her out, she's defenseless. He took four cakes from the oven, placed them on a plate, took off his apron, and returned it to Maris. As he passed the dining table, he threw back a pie near the foot of the table. Maris shook her head and followed the tall figure of the man and sighed. Who said vampires are cold-blooded and cruel? Just because people don't know how to warm up and touch their hearts.

I muttered under my breath. Mara snorted playfully. “Come on, starving Luna. There’s a new cafe down the road.” She hooked her arm through mine, tugging me toward the exit. Pedro, our driver, stood by the car. “Heading home yet, my Luna?” I shook my head. “Not yet. Pedro. We'd like to go get something to eat.” “Sure. Let's go.” The drive was short and in no time, we got there. The cafe’s atmosphere hit me the moment we stepped inside. Faded checkered curtains, the scent of rosemary and burnt sugar, the murmur of old men arguing over chess—it felt like stepping into a forgotten story.

The scent of roasted beans wrapped around us, grounding, warm. I accepted mine and took a long sip. “Well,” I muttered, looking around the wrecked café, “gourmet coffee in the middle of a disaster zone while it’s still raining outside.” I raised my mug. “Just perfect.” Colette snorted, bumping my shoulder lightly with hers. “Right? This is exactly the ambiance I was going for. Very… post-apocalyptic chic.” I grinned. “I’m giving it a five-star review.” She rolled her eyes but laughed, finally relaxing into the chair beside me.

Wayne informed the driver as he started the engine. Le Papillon d'Or is a renowned French restaurant which specialises in exquisite seafood dishes. "I know you've been meaning to go there" Wayne looked over at Kaylar. Curiosity struck Kaylar and she turned towards Wayne, "How did you know that?" Wayne chuckled, "Well, I have my sources. Plus, I've seen your to-go list" With that Wayne took out his phone and made a quick call to the restaurant, hoping to get some recommendations. Turning to Kaylar, he asked, "So, any preferences or should I surprise you?"

The place seemed to serve blood alongside a regular meal. Nevea entered the cafe, and instantly, the smell of freshly cooked toast and a cup of coffee mixed with blood was so thick in the air. She inhaled deeply and strangely found the mixture of the aroma pleasing. She went to the counter and placed her order, then went straight to sit beside a table of four people that she noticed were taken by two vampires and two humans. "Have you heard about the project to turn humans into vampires?" The human with a skinny body asked. Nevea would remember him as human number one.

Her grin widened as she squealed with excitement, and we changed quickly, the club’s chaos fading as we stepped into the humid New Orleans night. We headed to Café du Monde, its warm lights a beacon, and ordered takeout - fries, fried chicken,burger, and iced coffees, the kind of treatment we rarely splurged on. As we waited for our orders. I remembered Dante’s visit, his shy plea about Lila to accept him. “Hey,” I started, glancing at her. “Dante came by earlier. He’s worried you’re not going to give him a chance. Ask me to talk to you, see what’s up.”
