Drink it now.” “Oh!” I gasped, quickly unscrewing the bottle and gulping it down without question. The liquid was bitter, thick, and tasted like grass soaked in vinegar. I gagged. “Ugh. The entire pack was watching. I tilted the flask to my lips—and as the rim covered my mouth, I slipped the smallest pinch of powder onto my tongue. It tasted like iron and lightning.

OSTARA’S POV By Monday afternoon, I was back in the lab, doing my best to shut out the noise of everything else. Whatever was going on between Anthony and me, whatever unfinished words were still hanging in the air after Lake Como — it all had to wait. Because work couldn’t. The new flavor had finally gone through its final round of testing, and for once, everything felt right. Hazelnut-caramel crunch — the public’s pick, the staff’s favorite, and, most importantly, Donna’s too.

Raven couldn’t help but scrunch her nose in disgust when she saw another glass of who knows what herbs were mixed in there brought by Luna Savina’s omega.
