Bad. Cash and I were the only ones that survived the Nightmare from our family. Mom and Dad were already sick by the time the vampires came to our home to 'save' us. The vamps were only there for me. They had found out about my IQ and wanted my brain to join them. I had insisted that they saved my brother as well. I may have made it a deal breaker.

That is the strangest thing I have ever thought in my life. That familiar itch starts to spread across my neck, down my chest to my stomach. The De La Morts were simply nutcases. “STAY AWAY!” She screamed now at the top of her voice as the image of going back to that De La Mort mansion crossed her mind. Never again! Just then, a small hand touched her arm, sending panic atacking her. River's head snapped up, her eyes flying open and then, Rain’s worried face swam into view. It was a dream. Just a terrifying dream. Relief washed over her, so intense it took her breath away. She pulled Rain into a crushing hug, burying her face in her daughter's soft hair.

But as she drifted off to sleep, she couldn't shake off the feeling that her life would never be the same again. Matilda's sleep was plagued by nightmares. She tossed and turned, her mind filled with images of her parent's death. She saw their lifeless bodies lying on the ground, their blood staining the grass. She heard their screams of terror and pain echoing in her ears. The nightmares were vivid and terrifying, and she couldn't escape them.
