When I touched the ball, it shone brightly, revealing a glimpse of the future. ******* Chelsa – POV Ryker had called me, and as I entered the room, I found Nathan and Philip already there. The air was thick with tension. “What’s the matter?” I asked. “The human realm is no longer safe for us,” Nathan said. “I've heard humans have a device that can distinguish us from them.” “Are you serious?” I asked, shocked. “I am. A few rogues were caught because of it,” Nathan added. “How did they come up with such a device so quickly?” I wondered aloud.

"Wasn't a human." A wave of silence settled in the room. Leo looked shocked. I was at first when I concluded. But there was no way I was going to let him or anyone see that. The rate of non-humans in the world was starting to increase beyond my imagination. To top it off, there was nothing I could do about it other than to just watch. I had been trying to trace my step, to try and find out where it all went wrong. From what I was told, I was the first non-human to be made—or cursed—a being just like the Vampires we saw in movies but I wasn't one.

Calla The evening sky stretched above us like a painted canvas, all soft purples and gentle oranges that made everything feel almost peaceful. For just a moment, I let myself get lost in that beauty while lying on the cold rocky ground. I'd done it. The supernatural war was over. Every vampire, every werewolf, every supernatural being on the planet was now completely human. No more hatred between species because there were no more species to hate each other. But now I was public enemy number one to an entire community of people who'd lost everything they thought made them special.

RIEKA “Not exactly human? What the hell does that mean?” I scoffed. “We’ve already explored this, and it’s been confirmed several times. I. Am. Human. Nothing more, nothing less.” Alpha Kareem smiled. “So, you’re not ready to listen then…”

In time, even your normal self would be able to do that. I was getting a hang of the whole thing now and I could say I was proud of myself. Normally I tend to take things slow just to get the memo but this one seemed to be different and I was liking every bit of it. "I'm no longer human, is that what you mean as well?" 'You still are. But a hybrid human. Half human, half wolf.'

I’m would still be thinking that I’m attracted to women and then I’m going to end up not liking it. I tried not to think of the things that would’ve happen to me if I lived in an alternate universe and that I wasn’t attacked. I guess it’s because I finally felt okay with the turn of events. I don’t have any other choice but to accept that lingering fact that I’m not human a human anymore.

Found only absence, hollow space where power used to reside. "Gone. All of it." I looked at my siblings, at their faces showing matching devastation. "The curse destroyed everything supernatural about me before Thaddeus transferred it. I'm just... human now." The word hung in the air, heavy with implications. Not "just human" like it was inferior, but just human. Regular. Mortal in ways that werewolves weren't. No healing factor, no enhanced strength, no magic to call upon. "But you're alive," Lyssa said, trying to find hope in the wreckage. "That's what matters."

Then murmurs, “I won’t tell a soul. And neither will any of the seconds.” “I . . . Why does it sound like people have been talking about this?” She swallows. “I know this embarrasses you, but it’s not . . . We are not Human, Anna.” We are not Human. “We don’t feel like you do when it comes to our bodies. I know every person in that room. I know Zane. And I really . . . I wouldn’t have wanted this for him.” Who else has told me these very same words? Ah, yes. Brenna. Of course. “It’s a common feeling,” I say flatly.

Alessio said, the corner of his mouth twitching just enough to almost be a smile. They walked together, boots crunching over fragments of shattered tech wires, glass, bits of circuitry that sparked weakly like dying fireflies. Every step forward felt quieter than the last. For the first time in weeks, there were no drones buzzing overhead, no glowing eyes watching from the shadows. No hum of machines trying to imitate a heartbeat. No more clones. No more machines playing God. No more science experiments wearing human skin. From here on, it was just flesh, blood, and bullets.
