"Arthur. Look." Arthur turned, his weapon raised, his eyes instantly tracking the light. Carved into the ancient Roman stone, completely hidden from casual view, was a massive, weathered bas-relief. It wasn't a Christian cross or a pagan deity. It was a black crescent moon, embracing a broken crown. The insignia of the Ordo Noctis. I lay there for what felt like a significant portion of the night and watched the glow of my orb on the ceiling and thought about the sovereign's face and the warmth in my chest and the twelve hundred questions I had about the citadel that nobody had answered yet.
