He looked at me for a second like he wanted to argue that it couldn't, actually, but then Ezra was tugging at his sleeve, asking if dinosaurs really existed, and the moment dissolved into something else entirely.
"What were you going to tell me?" I asked, but Kian was already half-turned toward Ezra, mid-explanation, and didn't seem to hear me.
I looked down at Noah, who had finally finished his drawing and was studying it with quiet satisfaction.
"What did you make?" I asked.
He turned it around. Four figures, carefully spaced, each one clearly distinguishable despite the simple lines, one tall, one medium, two small.
"Us," he said simply.
I looked at it for a long moment. "It's beautiful."
