Normally, the car shouldn't have been like this. He usually read novels, so he kind of knew some stories. But he never thought these stories would happen to him. Whether it was the aunt with obvious burn scars, the old lady with a lifeless face, or even that wet little kid, the way they looked at him was strangely the same. Except for that sharply dressed boss, everyone else seemed weird. If just one person on the bus looked at you, it was nothing. But when everyone on the bus, including the driver, was staring at you, even if they were normal, you'd feel creeped out. Let alone when none of them were normal.

It wrapped around her waist, clung to her hips, and left just enough exposed skin to make every man in the bookstore stare. Fuck. I noticed every single one of them. Their eyes followed her, lingering too long, looking at her like she was something to consume, imagining things they had no right imagining. For a brief second, I considered ripping their eyeballs out. The bookstore wasn't the right place for that. Especially not with my Cub watching. I've never found much pleasure in the creations of God. Most people are boring, predictable, and disposable, just like every human on this planet. But Kammie Reyna Jones was different.

Emma hated violence, and she had never read a book detailing such raw brutality. But this wasn't just a mere book. Someone had written it—like a twisted, violent diary. She desperately wanted to believe that it was just a random story, but if it was just normal fiction, why was she so incredibly drawn to it? What was so odd and magnetic about that black book?

And a girl two chairs down from the one the nurse directed me to. The girl had a lilac bob, feet tucked under her, a book with no cover in her lap. She didn’t look up when Maekynzie and I came in, which somehow made her stand out more. “Alright,” Maekynzie said, at a volume better suited to a much larger space. “This is fine. Everything is completely fine. I’ve been to hospitals before. I’m a very calm person.” “You’re the least calm person I know.”

People always talk about missing people like it arrives dramatically. Like storms. Like crying. Like songs that suddenly become painful. Nobody talks about the quiet version. The version where life continues normally— and that’s what hurts. ⸻ His flight left at 6:40 PM. By 8:15— she was home. Changed. Face washed. Phone beside her. Everything normal. Too normal. That annoyed her. Because she expected something bigger. Expected sadness. Expected emptiness. Instead—

I suppose with those numbers, that could be why no one talks about it. Who wants to admit they’re having mental health problems to a ‘normal’ person. They’ll just throw stats in your face about people suffering from hunger, and lack of water or people in war-torn countries have it worse than you. Those kinds of people make me angry; I didn’t ask for what I’ve gone through and the after-effects of that. It’s why you should never judge people; you have no idea what’s happened to them and what they’re still dealing with in their lives. It’s kind of funny cause I’m so envious of those same arseholes. I want to be one of the fifteen normal people.

Abnormally normal is a story that really was a challenge, especially with the antagonist, but I believe no one is just born bad, something led or made them be that way. Rita was someone who found herself as someone who didn't belong, she's a hybrid, she isn't vampire, she isn't werewolf, she isn't human, where does she fit in then?.
