Adele shook her head in disapproval but did not say anything other than focusing on driving the car in an unusual route. Nora and Anayka looked at one another as they both understood that Adele was in angry mode. They also know that Adele would not reply to their question even if they ask her multiple times. "Aunt Nora, why does mom always want me to be a 'normal human'?" Anayka asked Nora. Nora glanced at Adele once and then leaned very close to Anayka. Then she whispered,

Norman ran into a little trouble earlier. Norman. The name reminded me of those blockheads from the store. ME: it’s fine. I ran into some trouble today too. Almost simultaneously, bubbles popped and disappeared. Six people typing. I stared at my screen with surprise. Weren’t they supposed to be offline? What’s with the sudden typing? Norman’s bubbled appeared first and I chuckled at the irony when I read his text. NORMAN: Trouble? What kind of trouble? Is someone bothering you?”

You started work. I leaned against the railing. How do you know that? I know where you are. Of course he did. That’s not comforting. It’s not meant to be. I rolled my eyes. It’s normal here. Try not to ruin it. There was a pause. Then: Define normal. I glanced back through the glass doors at the office. People talking, someone laughing, coffee machines humming. It felt… ordinary. This. People doing their jobs and going home. A longer pause this time.

It seemed that he still did not know enough about the Nonagon and the door. One could never judge these people as normal humans!

“What did you enjoy about it the most?” I settled back in my chair and considered. “I think… that you got such a kick out of it. I lift a sceptical brow, “To be insulted?” Did he have some kind of degradation kink? “To be normal.” There's a pause and a second where I wonder who this man before me was. Truly was. Would he tell me his name if I asked? Did I even want to know his name? “Most people find normalcy boring” He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, “Not me. I quite enjoyed my time being normal” I laugh, “So what, you're abnormal now?”

Bee laughs, but only because she’s developed a crush on him. “No, that there’s an Abnormal in your class year!” I roll my eyes. Abnormals have been hunted by the government and anyone else that can get their hands on them for years. I don’t think it’s right. They are being attacked by people because of their abnormalities, hence the name. They’re special because they have certain capabilities or powers that make them better than the average person, which is why the government wants to stick their fingers in that particular cookie jar. Eventually they’ll find a really strong one they’ll want to try and duplicate the powers of.
