But as she moved closer, her stomach churned. One of the trees was sick. Its bark was blackened and cracked, seeping a tar-like substance that dripped onto the glittering ground. Its leaves were brittle, some falling in slow, sorrowful spirals. Dark veins twisted around its roots, choking it as they spread outward, threatening to poison the other two trees. The second tree pulsed with life but seemed strained, its light flickering as if struggling to keep the corruption at bay. The third tree stood strong, radiating a golden warmth that gave Zoe a fleeting sense of comfort.

Even this one? Vera smiled faintly. 'It's resilient in the first place and not just any tree—it won't need pesticides or fertilizers. The worst that could happen is not being watered or if it burns down, but it's otherwise growing strong without help." Pausing, she murmured, "But I guess we'd have to bring plenty of tea leaves since we'd be away for a while… Have you thought of what to bring? Just remember not to miss anything important.

Sabine frowned "My ancestor would not record this and pass it down through generations if it was not true. However, we can only test the accuracy of it when we have the Tree of life." "I'll do it," Wayne announced, switching to a serious tone "Show me a visual picture of what the tree looks like so I would know what I am searching for," he told Sabine. She nodded and unfolded her arms. Opening the book once again, she flipped to a page just after the narration. A large image of a tree was conspicuously drawn. It was an open crown of wispy, ground-sweeping branches with long, slender leaves. The twigs were yellow, and green foliage fanned down, giving an indication of spring.

At the base of the hill was a massive, gnarled tree. It must have been a hundred years old, all knobby and bent over. But it was still alive, blooming with lots of thick, green leaves. When we reached Ken at the tree, he was panting and breathing heavily from his run. He leaned over and put a hand on one of the knobby bumps on the tree. "This is a very special tree," Ken explained. "Why is it special?" I asked. Ken plopped down on the ground, sitting cross-legged. He patted the ground beside him.

The "Core-Tree" in the heart of the A****n did not just grow; it manifested. Standing nearly three thousand feet tall, its trunk was a translucent pillar of amber glass intertwined with pulsing carbon-fiber "muscle." It was the primary node of the global Techno-Forest, and it was currently screaming a digital signal into the ionosphere.

All of them were wearing their synthetic gloves with their signature logos on their lab gowns. I went nearer towards the nearest tree right in front of the Mystica Glory building. I looked closely at the nerve-like figures that can capture everyone's eye when starring at its trunk. The tree bore many long branches that were at first ascending but eventually arching over and drooping at the ends. The trunk was fluted and buttressed to more than seven meters in diameter at the base. It was a Narra tree. When I raised my head to see this gigantic tree, those long branches changed from brown to green eventually. The changing process made sparkles that ran from the roots towards its human-sized l

But in time, when you keep looking, you will see the differences. The mixture of black and brown wood gave of the feeling as if the barks where weak, and the burden was too much on them. It’s the only thing I’m good at. I’m only good at making trees.”

Or was the person using it as a stand an impressive specimen of a New Type? Samoa recognized the tree. As a Scouter he knew much about the Enchanted Forest so he knew what that tree was. It was one of the most common kinds of trees one could find in the outer region and wasn’t spectacular in any way. It was weak, and all it was good for was to serve as kindling for fire. That could only mean that it was the one who stood atop this branch that was impressive. Samoa could recognize the newcomer. And so did Joe.
