She asked and remarked, making me giggle. "No, I'm still in the middle. Well, I guess. I don't actually know how long this will go. I just realized I'm a damn pantser, Mom. The plot keeps changing. POV: Samantha The first draft is already dead before I finish reading it. I don’t say that out loud. I just sit there with the legal team watching me like my expression is going to decide whether the company survives the next hour or not. Maybe it will. “Read it again,” one of the attorneys says carefully. I don’t move because I already know what it says, and that’s the problem. It says nothing. Not in the way it needs to. It’s defensive without being firm. Apologetic without taking responsibility. Vague enough to invite interpretation, which is the one thing you never do when the internet already has its teeth in you.

How can real people vanish? I read through the dream sequence in one of the journals on my laptop. Two hours for the boarding call, and one hour in the air was good enough to find at least the exposition. Dream sequences in the first chapter of a book are pieces of trash. Every third book starts with a dream sequence! Definite turn-offs for literary agents and editors. No, I am not judging. That’s what the agents and publishing house editors say in their How-to-write-a-great-novel videos. That’s what they warn aspiring authors against – NO DREAM SEQUENCES PLEASE! The next day... "I'm done with the first draft! Finally!" Emma excitedly announced, after she presses the save button on her laptop. It took her five agonizing hous to finish her first draft, but it went well in the end. After printing the article, she quickly went to her bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. Afterwards, she changed from her pajamas to her everyday clothes. After she printed her article, she quickly brewed another fresh cup of coffee. As she's waiting for the coffee to boil, she hurriedly went to the bathroom to do a quick shower.

I've experienced mental blocks and severe headaches several times while going on with the story, but it was all worth it knowing that finally, One In A Million reached its ending. This is my first ever Science Fiction story, and the second novel I finished this year, 2021. I know you see plot holes in it, the grammatical, and typographical errors, and I promise to strive harder to get rid of those and be better in the future. I know I still have to learn a lot and I am more than willing to learn.
