Nowhere For Very Long Novels & Stories

CHAPTER NINETY- SEVEN: ESCAPE NOVA POV I've been driving for three hours straight and I still don't know where the fuck I'm going. Nowhere, That's where I'm going. Nowhere with garbage bags full of my life and a car that costs more than everything I've ever owned combined. The irony isn't lost on me, and maybe it might have been funny in another circumstance, but I'm so damn numb. My phone died an hour ago. I'd watched it buzz and light up with Grant's name over and over until the battery finally gave up.

Neither spoke. Nate stared at him. Max stared back. And in the silence between them, everything they'd spent months refusing to say seemed to gather at once. The door remained open. Neither of them moved. Neither looked away.

Shawn rolled his eyes and hung up immediately. Jenna laughed. “Scammers nowadays don’t even bother with a good story. Who doesn’t know that Samantha is too sickly to conceive?” Shawn fell silent. He clearly agreed with her without saying a word. I could not help but smile bitterly. He did not know that in order to conceive, I had spent the last two years swallowing a lot of bitter pills for treatment. And it was all gone. Just as he was about to toss his phone aside, another call came in.

"The caller said it was critical you contact him Immediately." "Thank you. I have been waiting for that called." Myositis quickly severed the connection. As the receptionist hung up the receiver, he wondered why Myositis's phone connection sounded so cranky. Myositis's schedule showed him in New York this weekend, and yet he sounded out of civilization. The receptionist shrugged it off. Myositis had been acting very strangely the last few months.

I need today's meeting to count. I set the phone face up on the bed and waited. The room was quiet. Ten seconds passed then twenty and then the three dots appeared. He was typing.

[Countdown: Two days left.] "Let's start the action! "Mission reminder: Take down the runaway head in the sand city, codenamed 'the Ghost'." I was on edge. I knew one wrong move could mean big trouble. So far, Liam and his team were doing well, deep behind enemy lines. However, out of nowhere, I got this really bad feeling. Zzzt— A sharp electrical noise filled the room, and suddenly, it was pitch black.

Hesitantly, I called out Madison's name. However, that long neck and strange head showed no reaction whatsoever. I shifted my gaze to Evan, who was beside Madison. A wet patch had spread beneath him, and he had already fainted from the shock. The eerie silence stretched on for what felt like an eternity before someone nervously spoke up.

We sat in the rain, laughing like lunatics, while the smell of the sewer wafted around us. Finally, the laughter died dow‌n. The cold set in. "Where are we?" Chloe asked, shivering. I loo‍ked arou‌nd. Ju‌st fields‌. A highway in the distance. "Nowhere," I said. "We are nowhere‌." I stoo‍d up. M‍y knees shook. "We n‌eed shel‍ter," I said. "We need clothes. And we need to get off t‍he grid."

It hurts like hell, but I have to stay limp, don’t react, don’t react, don’t react! Finally, the van jerks to a stop. Doors slam. Footsteps. A burst of cold air floods in as the rear doors open. I listen, straining my ears. If I can’t see or smell, I need to use what’s left. Birds. Wind through leaves. No traffic, no city sounds. Shit. We’re in the middle of nowhere.
