Something that speaks to my heart. I remember the faces from last night—the girl I carried from the rubble, the old man who coughed so hard from the smoke his lips turned blue. I remember the hunger I used to feel, the aching in my bones after long cold nights with nothing but a crust of bread and dirty water. Water. I close my eyes. Clean water. Something so simple. So vital. And yet, so many still don’t have it. Lady Ivanna smiles like she already knows what I’ve decided.

Whatever I slowly climbed the few stairs and tried opening the door, but this one was closed, I angrily kicked it before I turned looking for any signs of water in the compound. I slowly walked to where the cars were packed and I couldn't stop myself from looking at them, there are so.... I don't even know what to say, one day I would certainly buy one of this, I would work hard until I could buy it. I coughed a bit feeling more pain in my throat and that's when I remembered I needed water, I slowly continued walking deeper into the compound, passing more fancy and luxurious cars.

That got me thinking, how will I go to school? We have one car and dad took it to work, I don't even know where the school is... Taking a deep breath I walked out of the door, grabbed the money dad left me, as I walked I looked up on my phone where the school is. Well, it is not that close but it is not that far, around 20 minutes walking might as well get some exercise. She walked up boldly to where the bucket of water was, next to the officers who were seated around a table under a wobbly canopy made from sticks and palm leaves. "Please water." Joya begged when she got to where they were seated, but their high-pitched laughter drained her voice. They didn't hear her or even take notice of her presence. "Please… I need water." She said more audibly. A man who was laughing his guts out while slapping his hand against his stomach suddenly took notice of her. "Hey, get the hell out of here." He spoke with a foreign accent, but Joya didn't flinch. Another man turned towards her direction.

He needed to go and wash up to get the scent of musk off him and the dried evidence. "Why do the best moments in life always end up being the ones that entail the most work?" He muttered, wincing as aches traversed through his body. "And he needs to keep the water nearer." The room where the water was filtered wasn't far. But when one was in pain, it felt like a hundred miles. Even the walk to the door had him breathing heavily.

I didn’t know where my feet would bring me but I am enjoying walking. “Water! water, who wants water?” The man shouted while carrying water bottles in his right hand and an icebox in the other. He is selling water for a living. I wish I could buy one from him, but I don’t have money. That is why I continue walking and smile at him and he smiles back at me. Despite the hot sun. He still manages to smile.
