Joya begged when she got to where they were seated, but their high-pitched laughter drained her voice. They didn't hear her or even take notice of her presence. "Please… I need water." She said more audibly. A man who was laughing his guts out while slapping his hand against his stomach suddenly took notice of her. "Hey, get the hell out of here." He spoke with a foreign accent, but Joya didn't flinch. Another man turned towards her direction.

He needed to go and wash up to get the scent of musk off him and the dried evidence. "Why do the best moments in life always end up being the ones that entail the most work?" He muttered, wincing as aches traversed through his body. "And he needs to keep the water nearer." The room where the water was filtered wasn't far. But when one was in pain, it felt like a hundred miles. Even the walk to the door had him breathing heavily.

He is selling water for a living. I wish I could buy one from him, but I don’t have money. That is why I continue walking and smile at him and he smiles back at me. Despite the hot sun. He still manages to smile.
