I clenched my teeth, forcing myself to stay upright. She was hurt too. I saw it in the way she stepped back, her body shaking slightly as she tried to keep her balance. Her balance was off. It felt cruel, but I did not hesitate and then I moved first. My other leg swung around in a fast arc, slamming into the side of her head. My foot connected with her temple and her body dropped to one knee, her head snapping to the side.

He said curtly in that deep grumble. She quickly bobbed her head looking so freaking adorable and innocent with those big forest eyes. "Don't you dare mask your scent!" She again bobbed her head holding her breath. "Y... You'll leave me alone and won't bother me," She said in a small hesitant voice. "Fine," He grumbled.

Her lips parted like she meant to say something—maybe my name, perhaps a curse at the fluorescent lighting—but all that came out was a wheeze. Then nothing. Her body swayed. Slumped. The carrier jostled as someone moved it away—rough hands, impersonal. I yowled in protest. The sound was raspy, my throat still sore from smoke and stress, but I couldn’t help it. She was right there. She needed me. I tried to press my face closer, pawing at the mesh with dull claws, ears pinned back as they lay her flat, and someone started barking orders.

“So I didn’t turn immediately.” Fresh tears rolled down her cheeks. “But when I did…” Her breathing became uneven. “There was someone standing there.” My stomach tightened. “Wearing a mask.” Nikolas frowned. “You couldn’t recognize them?” She shook her head desperately. “No…” “They didn’t say a word.” “They just…” She raised a shaking hand toward the wound on her head. “They hit me.” “I tried to dodge.” “My hand blocked part of the blow…” She lifted her bruised arm. “…but it still struck my head.”

He must have thought she was something he could manipulate this thought her useful. Swiftly, Grace pounced over his huge body pulling his head upward away from his neck wildly. York struggled but it was obvious he had no chance. "Get off him!" a gunned man shouted. All of them had their guns aimed at her but it seemed they wouldn't shoot her to avoid hitting York with their bullets. Grace continued pulling. She screamed which sounded more like hard groans until York's head was off his body. She had beheaded him by bare hands. She jumped off his body. York's headless body fell to the floor.

I tried to shake my head through her tight grip, desperate to catch his attention. Please, look at me. Look at my eyes. Don't listen to a single word she says. Don't let her fool you, Nico. “So, what do you say, Nico?” She shifted my head around by my hair like she owned my entire body. “Do I slit her neck open right now in front of you, because you know damn well I'm crazy enough to do it, or do you call off the whole thing? What's it going to be?” Her tone was chilling. She sounded like she was casually discussing hobbies over a cup of morning coffee, completely detached from the weapon pressed to my throat.

What did she even mean? “What?” “Kill me already!” She spat back. I could see her drawing her fangs out at that, and I sent her head flying into the cabinet yet again. She smiled even wider everytime I slammed her head until I ripped it apart in frustration. I stared at the severed head sitting on the floor with one eye gorged out, subtly smiling to myself. I turned my attention to the beta who had stopped wrestling to free himself from their grip. Instead, he was limp and wide-eyed, staring at the body of the woman he once sore to protect with his life.

She winks "You..." I trailed off not knowing what to say or do anymore "What?" "You have anything else to say" She raised her brow "Why dont we fight physically" I said getting an idea but turns out it turned against me "Of course we'll do" She smirked, the next thing I knew was a hard hit on my head then I fell unconscious on the floor ***** I opened my eyes and shut it back then reopened, it was blurry at first before everything became clear, I tried standing up so i can check where I am but a sharp pain behind my head followed
