Violets and Ash
I stammered, wide-eyed and trying to wrap my head around the compliment he seemed to give me.
“Sure is—” He began, but the sudden appearance of Kota O’Hare, the tool that made fun of me for eating a cupcake during lunch, cut his reply short.
Kota stood a short distance away, his jersey lifted up his chiseled abdomen as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. The curly tendrils of his hair clung to his face, which was reddened with exertion that quickly morphed to distain.
“Hey, Holden. You comin,’ dude?” He shouted, giving the guy at my side a look that said, ‘what the hell are you doing?’.
