The air was different and unlike the other days. Petal's father, Xavier Brooks, had hired a paid service to the willing teen wolf who volunteered to help him do some menial work in his huge house. Yeah, those were supposed to be cleaned by Petal but Xavier Brooks was feeling different for that day. He even went as far as preparing and throwing a huge party for Petal, so he told her. On that day, Petal would be completing another circle round the earth surface yet again. It's her nineteenth birthday and Xavier Brooks had decided to throw it in a grand style which he has never done since her existence.

Elder Zac continued, “he will no longer hold the title of Alpha. He will return to the rank of a normal pack member. An omega, if necessary.” My eyes widened. An omega? That’s the lowest rank in a pack. Omegas were not too respected and they were far from being leaders. They were treated more like helpers, sometimes even ignored. That’s crazy, I thought to myself. Was that even allowed? Could a whole Alpha be reduced to an omega? That seemed too harsh. I had only ever heard rumors of something like this happening, of alphas being stripped of their rank but I had never actually seen it happen. I never thought it could happen to someone like Kaden.

“I don’t need worship. I just need a date. Preferably one who can keep Damian from trying to ‘accidentally’ corner me for a chat about our tragic love story.” Mara finished the last of her drink and signaled for the check. “Calliope will pick someone good. Maybe someone ridiculously attractive. You know how many men go in and out of her place? It’s like a shifter parade.” She paused, eyes widening. “Imagine if she pairs you with one of those gorgeous wolf shifters she’s always talking about.” Lena choked on her cocktail. “Please. If she sends a seven-foot wolf warrior to the wedding as my date, I will literally die.”

I follow the scent of the Alpha for about a quarter of a mile until I come up to a group of people. I can see the top of Alpha Wade’s head as I angrily push through and freeze when I see what’s happening before me. In the mud are the young omegas I met the other day. They shiver in fear as Alpha Wade hoovers over them, demanding answers they are too frightened to give.

“B-But… Why me? I am just an omega.” Alpha Jake glanced at Mara, sensing her uncertainty and the weight of the situation upon her shoulders. He spoke with a calm and reassuring tone, "Mara, in the eyes of the moon goddess, the status of an omega, beta, or alpha doesn't define one's worthiness. The moon goddess's choice is not based on societal ranks or hierarchies within the pack. It's about a deeper connection, a bond that goes beyond what we can see on the surface."

“So how exactly do you operate, then?” “If we can get ahead of the situation, there are a few of us in the pack that can smuggle out the people who need it before they have to run. It’s a word-of-mouth setup, since we can’t exactly advertise our services. We try to pay attention and intervene when we can. I don’t like the feeling I’m getting. Gamma Dave scoffed at my response, saying while drawing closer again, “You’re funny, Omega. How is it a long time?
