I pull my hands up and see white hairs growing on them. What was once silence now becomes a cacophony of shrill and irritating sounds. I hear my bones melting together, accompanied by a terrible pain that consumes me. Causing desperate screams. Without thinking, I rise to my feet and look around, unable to see anything due to the extreme pain. When everything falls silent again, and I can finally make out the wolves around me, I see them all bowing before me, even the beta, despite not being in his wolf form. Why are they bowing to me? All of the memories I despised and keep hidden resurfaced once more like tidal waves in an endless sea. 'Do I truly despise them or am I just tricking myself into believing that?' I tried looking up at the stars but I could only think of his face. Those Sapphire-like eyes glowed majestically as if enchanting me to look deep inside. We share the same eye color but I can't get enough whenever I see them. It was addictive. His breath is on my skin whenever he speaks closer to me. I remember it as if it was only yesterday. "Zara Winters is our mate." The silence exploded into chaos. Voices overlapped - shock, outrage, disbelief. I caught fragments of conversations: "The servant girl?" "But she's just an omega..." That’s why the government revised the laws and eliminated some of them which weren’t in favour of the omegas. It’s not that I don’t want to escape from here. He claimed me and my unconscious self recognises him as my alpha. Plus I don't have anywhere to go and even if I do escape, my friends can't. How could she be certain she was an Omega? Her mother had claimed she was, but she had also repeatedly mentioned that Hailey was born wrong. Not only had he sniffed her, but he had also asked if she had ever been to the Howling. Most wolves experienced their first shift during the gathering, where being among kindred spirits helped.

The next morning, Matilda woke up feeling groggy and disoriented. She had tossed and turned all night, haunted by nightmares of her parent's death. As she got dressed, she tried to push the memories out of her mind and focus on the day ahead, she heard a knock on the door. She opened it to find two omegas standing in front of her.
